Hauteclaire (オートクレール, Ōtokurēru^?) is an item that appears in Sonic and the Black Knight. It is an unlockable weapon that can be equipped to and wielded by Sir Gawain.

Description

Hauteclaire is a pair of identical weapons that resemble short single-edged swords. Each sword has a thick gray grip with a flat and oblique gray guard that tilts downward on the front, and a knuckle bow that extends from the front edge of the guard to the sword pummel. Each front edge of Hauteclaire, which is silver and decorated with white and black patterns, is straight at the middle, while the foot of it is in the shape of a hook, and the top of it curves upward. Covering most of the back edge on each of Hauteclaire's swords is a gray metal sheet that curve slightly inward and which is decorated with a figure resembling a wine with leaves.

Aegis Guard	Increases the duration of a guard.
Lunge Attack	Move forward and flick the Wii Remote to Lunge Attack.
Aerial Attack	Move back and flick the Wii Remote to Aerial Attack.
Lunge Spread	Increases the attack area of a Lunge Attack.
Aerial Spread	Increases the attack area of an Aerial Attack.
Perfect Guard	Guard with just the right timing.
Attack Step	Attack becomes possible when using a short jump.
Soul Surge	Press the B button when there is energy in the Soul Gauge.

Hauteclaire is a French word that translates to "high and mighty." It is believed to be the basis of "Hauteclere," a sword used by the character Oliver in the French epic, The Song of Roland.
