Hallowmoon, also called the Feast of Sun and Moon,[1] is an annual event that takes place in Shamar. During this period that spans several days, a festival is held where the residents switch their daily and nightly routines to pay thanks to the Moon. Sonic Unleashed takes place during the Hallowmoon.

Description

Hallowmoon originates from the Shamaran custom of giving thanks to everything they see, and their devoted worshiping of the Moon and Sun. Believing in the philosophy that there cannot be morning without the night, the people of Shamar holds Hallowmoon for a unspecified period of time at a certain point each year as a way for the people to give thanks to the Moon specifically, for bringing forth the Sun each morning.

During Hallowmoon, it is custom for the people of Shamar to pays thanks their thanks to the Moon, by switching each of their daytime and nighttime routines, meaning that, during Hallowmoon, people in Shamar perform their daily work and activities at night, while they rest and sleep during the day. When the Moon comes out during nighttime, the people of Shamar begin saying their prayers to the Moon in the heaven, expressing their thanks to it for bringing forth the morning and for watching over them.

Despite being a meaningful celebration, the level of personal dedication to Hallowmoon varies between the people. People such as Labib finds Hallowmoon annoying, because he does not feel like himself working at night, while others such as Utba are so devoted to Hallowmoon that they spend all their time praying, leaving them extremely sleep deprived. Regardless of the people's different opinions, however, they all understand the importance of Hallowmoon and overall accept the traditions as they are.
