The Guruguru[1] (グルグル[2]?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, caterpillar-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

Guruguru

The Gurugurus are blue caterpillar-like Badniks that heavily resemble similar Badniks such as Catakiller, Jr. and Wamu. They have blue spiked covered segments around their body, as well as cartoony eyes and pincers on their mouth.

Overview[]

The Gurugurus make their only appearance in Sonic Advance 3, where they appear exclusively in Cyber Track. In gameplay, the Gurugurus fly back and forth in the air in a set pattern in sporadic locations. However, they do not utilize any conventional weapons to attack the player. In order to destroy these Badniks, the player must attack their heads, as attacking any other part of their body will inflict damage on the player. Upon their destruction, the Gurugurus will also release a Ring.

Powers and abilities[]

Like their predecessors, Gurugurus are capable of flight, and are incapable of being harmed unless its head is attacked. Like Wamus, Gurugurus also lack the electrical wave generation ability from Catakiller, Jr.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by IDW Publishing, the Gurugurus were among the many Badniks that attended Orbot and Cubot's Winter Jam reality show.[3]

Trivia[]

  • The Guruguru's name is Japanese for "going round and round." This is based on the fact that they mostly fly aimlessly with no real sense of direction.
