The Gryphon chasing Tails from Sonic the Comic #29. Art by Casanovas and John M. Burns.

The Gryphon is a character that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It was a beast that was native to the Nameless Zone.

For an unspecified time, the Gryphon terrorized the centaur village of Portstable. When meeting Tails, it attempted to eat him but was defeated when it collided onto the ground and was knocked out as it did not expect Tails to fly. For seemingly defeating the Gryphon, the centaurs hailed Tails as a hero.[1]

  • This character was named after a gryphon, also spelled griffin, which is a mythological beast with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. It is a common symbol in architecture and heraldry.
