The Ground Pound,[1] also known as the Stomp,[2] is a move that appears in the Sonic Boom series. When performing this technique, the user does a downward attack.
Description[]
When performing Ground Pound, the user launches an attack downward from a position in midair and strikes the ground with enough force to create a minor shock wave. The execution method of this move depends on the user.
In gameplay, the Ground Pound serves as an offensive maneuver, capable of damaging enemies and destroying obstacles. It can also be utilized to activate certain gimmicks.
Game appearances[]
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric[]
In Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, the Ground Pound is referred to as the Stomp[2] and is used by Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy. In this game, the characters execute the Ground Pound in the following ways: Sonic curls into a ball and spin attacks downward, Tails drops down on his rear, Amy hammers directly into the ground with her hammer, and Knuckles dives his fists into the ground.
To use the Ground Pound in gameplay, the player must press while in the air. This move is particularly useful for activating Buttons on the ground. If done correctly, the Ground Pound can temporarily stun enemies, including those that can make themselves temporarily invulnerable.
Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal[]
In Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, the move is referred to as the Ground Pound[3] and is usable by Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Sticks. In gameplay, the Ground Pound is performed by the characters in the following ways: Sonic does a downward Air Dash with his elbow leading, Tails slams down with his twin-tails spinning, Knuckles stomps down with his rear, and Sticks falls down on her stommach. To use the Ground Pound in gameplay, the player must press down + while in the air.
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice[]
In Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, this move is again referred to as the Ground Pound[1] and is usable to the same playable characters as in Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, as well as Amy. When using Ground Pound in this game, Amy throws her hammer into the ground from midair, and Tails fires his blaster at the ground. Except for Amy and Tails, the characters execute their Ground Pound like in Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. To use the Ground Pound in gameplay, the player must press down + while in the air.
Trivia[]
- Sonic's version of the Ground Pound in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is similar to the Bound Jump.
- In Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, a glitch allows the users of Ground Pound to gain a ton of height after colliding with an object or enemy.[4]
