Green Hill is the first world in Sonic Speed Simulator. This world is a re-imagination of Green Hill Zone from the original Sonic the Hedgehog. It is unlocked from the beginning of the game. The very first questline is located here, which is used to unlock Sonic the Hedgehog as a playable character. The Zone currently features events which can be completed to unlock Cream the Rabbit, Gemerl the Robot, and Android Shadow as playable characters.
Description[]
Green Hill is a peaceful and natural region on the coast of a blue sea. The background of the world features sharp brown mountains, green forestry and waterfalls in the distance and rivers of blue water flowing through the world. Green Hill also includes tall palm trees, bright sunflowers, hard-pointed bushes with red flowers and different types of totem poles with several facial expressions. Notably abstract, the landscape features several blocky hills in all manners of arrangements and various loops. There are also bright blue uncanny blocks set along the paths. Most of the ground of the world is covered in green grass, with many well-trodden paths in said grass, and the soil itself is covered in checkerboard patterns in different shades of brown. There are also several log or wooden bridges, which can have waterfalls near them, stretching over gaps on the paths.
Gameplay[]
Green Hill is an open and free-roaming level with plenty of Moto Bugs throughout. There are several loops here for the player to use. There are also Grind Rails, although these gimmicks are placed so high up in Green Hill's upper sections that reaching them require expert navigation and knowledge of the world's platforms and structures. However, there are Springs in Green that the player can use to reach the Grind Rails. There are also rock formations around Green Hill in the shape of ramps that can launch the playable character into midair if they run off them fast enough.
Green Hill is littered with Chaos Orbs and Rings that the player can collect. These objects are aligned along the roads in Green Hill. There are also Sky Rings in Green Hill for obtaining additional Experience Points.
In some parts of the Green Hill are Omochao, Orbot, and Vanilla that can explain the gameplay and its aspects to the player. These NPCs activate automatically when the playable character approaches them and will display their explanations in the form of text balloons above them.
This world is the typical hub for most new events and shops, and has Giant Ring portals to nearly every other part of the game. Green Hill has numerous Time Trials, where the player tries to race through a pre-designed path around the level for rewards. It also has Spin Wheels that can periodically be used to get a random prize.
In 1.0, Lone Ring vaults would also appear in some places, from which Rings can be collected from once in a while within a certain period of time. Green Hill also used to host obstacle courses referred to as "Obbies" where the player can earn additional Rings from the vaults at these Obbies' end. Next to the Giant Ring leading into these Obbies were signposts displaying the player's best time.
In 2.0, the Friend and Trail vending machines are all in one place, along with a area dedicated to Fast Friends and Character Mastery. Entry points exist for Drag Races, Action Races, and a dedicated Race World for faster loading times. Red Star Rings and Music Notes are scattered across the level. Red Star Rings give you 10 of them when found, and Music Notes unlock a song in the Music Player. Green Hill also has an Auto Run feature, which requires Level 50, but makes the player run a lap around the world without needing to input anything.
Overview[]
Serving as the starting world, the player starts out the game in Green Hill in a circular market place of some sort with trodden ground forming its outline. Around it are scoreboards and information about the game or real world Sonic-related news. From this central location is a single path leading away from it, which eventually divides into two paths, and then into more, creating a coherent and closed network of roads. Behind the starting point on the other hand is Giant Rings that act as a fast travel system to the rest of the worlds in the game.

Obbies (Legacy)[]
Green Hill included the Lost Valley Obby, which must be cleared in order to unlock Lost Valley. The Giant Ring into this Obby is located in the furthest part of Green Hill. In order to get there, the player must, when starting out from Green Hill's starting point, keeping taking the roads to the right and follow them until they arrive at the Lost Valley Obby.
Unlike other Worlds in the game, Green Hill featured three Obbies, which the player can use to challenge themselves and earn extra rewards from a Spin Wheel.
- Green Hill Obby 1: This Obby is accessible from the beginning. Its entrance is located at the fork in the road near Green Hill's starting point. On its obstacle course, the player has to jump across platforms suspended across pits. The whole course is split into two segments that differ in length. Lastly, in front of the exit Giant Ring from this Obby is a vault with 500 Rings.
- Green Hill Obby 2: This Obby is accessible after the playable character has reached level 15. Its entrance is located after the bridge on the left path. On its obstacle course, the player has to use the Homing Attack to skip between red orbs and utilize Springs floating in midair over a pit. It consists of two segments. The first one consists of red orbs arranged as a string with a Spring at the end, and the second consists of red orbs arranged diagonally between waterfalls. Lastly, in front of the exit Giant Ring from this Obby is a vault with 1,000 Rings.
- Green Hill Obby 3: This Obby is accessible after the playable character has reached level 35. Its entrance is located behind the loop on the path with the entrance to Obby 2. Notably, this Obby's design resemble that of Hill Top Zone despite it not being added as World 5 yet. On its obstacle course, the player has to jump across platforms sticking out from the walls. This Obby can be especially tricky due to the accurate jumps needed to travel between platforms, especially if the player is on a high level. It consists of two segments. Lastly, in front of the exit Giant Ring from this Obby is a vault with 1,500 Rings.
Trivia[]
- If the player goes into a hole near the waterfall on the map, they will find a golden Sonic the Hedgehog statue. This statue has also appeared in the Green Hill and Emerald Hill racetracks, the latter of which is holding a chili dog. It also appears in Pumpkin Hill.
- This statue also features alterations during certain events:
- During the Animal Rescue event, a Pocky was present on top of the statue.
- During the Android Shadow event, the entrance to the statue's room is broken down, and the statue itself is knocked over. The symbols on the plaque are also covered over by the Eggman Empire's logo.
- In the Sonic Speed Simulator: Reborn update onward, a statue can be found in the middle of the spawn location.
- In the Release Shadow event, a statue was added underneath one of the big Loops in the map.
- This statue also features alterations during certain events:
- The four obbies in Green Hill, while being removed during the Reborn update, returned during the "Legit Event" for April Fools 2024, under the name "Somewhere Else"
- 5 Cardboard Cutout Chao were also hidden across Green Hill during this Event, one of which was out of bounds.
- A purchasable Lemon Lime Chao for 99 Robux was added out of bounds in Green Hill near a giant waterfall.
