The Great Oak Slide is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a slide used by the Knothole Freedom Fighters to gain access to Freedom HQ.

Description[]

The Great Oak Slide is one of two ways to enter Freedom HQ. Its entrance is through the top of an old tree stump, whose top can be opened by pulling a specific vine hanging from a nearby tree. From there, it leads through a speedy tube that loops, spirals around, and zig-zags through the underground until it deposits the user on a hay bale next to the HQ's kitchen.

History[]

The Great Oak Slide was a log used by the Knothole Freedom Fighters as a means of gaining quick access to their underground home, Freedom HQ. It was often allowed them to quickly escape attacks from Dr. Robotnik and his forces. The slide lead up to a trap door shaped like a cut-down tree stump.[1]

After the Ultimate Annihilator went off and sent Knothole Village three hours into the future, the only way people could enter or leave Knothole was via the Great Oak Slide.[2]

After Elias helped renovate and restore Freedom HQ, it was partially destroyed by Bean and Bark.[3]
