An old (but not forgotten!) device.

— Description, Sonic Unleashed

The Gramophone is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is an old-fashioned phonograph for Professor Pickle's lab in Spagonia that is used for storing and playing Records.

Description[]

The Gramophone resembles a real-life phonograph from the early 20th century. It has a dark brown cube-shaped stand with curved and decorated sides and have a flat footing with four flat legs on each corner. On its top, it has a disk and a stylus for playing gramophone records on, and hanging from the side is a wide and golden amplifying horn.

Overview[]

The Gramophone holds an entry for each background music track of the Town Stages, Action Stages, Boss Stages, and musical themes heard in Sonic Unleashed. By interacting with the Gramophone, the player can listen to those music tracks, closely functioning as the game's Sound Test. However, the entries in the Gramophone do not hold any music until the player collects the corresponding Record in gameplay. When that happens, the Gramophone automatically fills out its entry, until all entries are covered.

The player can buy the Gramophone from Josef's in Spagonia for 500 Rings. After buying it, it can be found in Pickle's Room in Spagonia's Town Stage where the player can interact with it.

Trivia[]

  • The Gramophone does not list the Records in the order of their numbers.
