The Goal Plate is a gimmick that appears in the Sonic X franchise. It is a signpost with a spinning plate.

Description[]

The average Goal Plate consists of a gray signpost which rested upon a spinning plate, allowing it to spin around when passed. There can be many different images on the post.

Overview[]

In Sonic X (Leapster), the Goal Plates can be seen at many points throughout the zones. In gameplay, they serve as decorations. By default, they show Dr. Eggman, either in a static position giving a thumbs down. When passed however, their post will turn around until they show a smiling Sonic making a peace sign or a thumbs up.

Goal Plates are also seen at the end of each level's third zone. In these zones, instead of showing Sonic's face after the hedgehog passes them, they will show the face of a character that will be saved shortly afterwards: Station Square shows Knuckles' face, while Angel Island shows Tails' and Eggman's Base has Amy's.
