Gilius Thunderhead (ギリウス=サンダーヘッド Giriusu Sandāheddo?) is a character that appears in the Golden Axe series. He is a dwarf and one of the original warriors to rise up against Death Adder.
Appearance[]
Gilius is a white-haired, bearded dwarf. He wears a green tunic, brown leather boots and a green topped Norse-style horned helmet. His weapon of choice is his silver broad axe.

Sega Superstars Tennis[]
Gilius is an unlockable playable character in Sega Superstars Tennis. His Superstar State is "Golden Hit" where his racket changes into the Golden Axe. While active, Gilius will launch the ball upwards, which will fall into the other side alongside four lightning bolts. If an opponent touches a lightning bolt, the target will be temporarily stunned, giving Gilius the chance to score a point.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed[]
In Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Gilius is an unlockable character. He rides a bronze animal-esque statue. It appears as an ox in "car" mode, a turtle with a rhino's head in "boat" mode, and a griffin in "plane" mode. He can be purchased for 120 stars in the World Tour. His signature race track is Adder's Lair.

Sonic the Comic[]
In the stand-alone The Legend of the Golden Axe stories within the Sonic the Comic series and its spin-offs published by Fleetway Editions, Gilius makes a few appearances.
Archie Comics[]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, Gilius appeared in the crossover event Worlds Unite, where his dimension is attacked by Mavericks and he defeats Gareth's lion. After learning about the current situation, he joins forces with the Unified Army to face Sigma.
Trivia[]
- In Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Gilius was intended to be a playable character. Concept artwork depicts him riding a Chicken Leg and a wooden vehicle that resembles said beast. However, he did not make it into the game for unknown reasons.
- Gilius is the only independent Golden Axe character to be playable in the Sega All-Stars series.
- Even though he particularly despises Death Adder, Gilius tolerates him in Sega Heroes.
