I have irritable bowl syndrome!

— Gil, "My Fair Sticksy"

Gil[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic Boom series. He is a high-class anthropomorphic goldfish who lives on Seaside Island. Suffering from "irritable bowl-syndrome," he gives off a fishy smell.[2]

Appearance[]

Unlike some of the more anthropomorphic residents of his world, Gil is a rather normal-looking goldfish and smaller than Sonic's foot. He possesses orange scales with white-tipped fins and a smooth head with pale orange eyes. His attire includes a white shirt, a black tuxedo jacket and a red bowtie. Also, to keep himself from drying out, he always resides in a filled fishbowl with a sand bottom.

History[]

TV series[]

Season one[]

Gil 2

Gil reminding others of his sickness.

Gil was one of the guests invited to the Awardy Awards in the Village Center. During the event, he would inform Dr. Eggman of his sickness when the doctor said "something smells fishy", unaware that Eggman referred to the awardies.[2] Gil would later make the same mistake when Sonic suspected foul play during his race with Swifty the Shrew.[3]

Personality[]

Somewhat direct, Gil is bothered by how (he assumes) people notice his sickness and being forced to explain where his stench stems from repeatedly.[3]
