The Gigan Mountains[1] is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a mountain range on Mobius that contains a hidden temple, within which lay the long-hidden Key to Babylon Garden, formerly guarded by Angelus.

Description[]

The Gigan Mountains are a range of several rocky brown mountains, which possess snow covering their peaks. One specific Gigan Mountain features a hidden chamber carved into its interior, which is connected to the outside via a tunnel. The hidden chamber itself is supported by several pillars, and formerly possessed a pedestal rigged to summon Angelus by use of several projectors on the walls when the Key to Babylon Garden was removed from it. The floor of the chamber also has several unknown Babylonian symbols etched into it, with serval other symbols and a mural of Babylon Garden being present on a nearby wall.[2]

History[]

Babylon Rising[]

Using information they had garnered from a book in the library of Soleanna, the Babylon Rogues learned of a hidden chamber within the Gigan Mountains supposedly containing the Key to Babylon Garden. When they arrived, they the found the temple, and the Key, just as the book had stated. However, upon their removal the Key from its pedestal, the chamber's guardian, Angelus, was activated, who delivered a warning against stealing the key, before attacking the Rogues. While dangerous, the Babylon Rogues soon realized he was an elaborate hologram of sorts, and disabled him by destroying the projectors set around the chamber. However, the tunnel leading to the chamber then began to collapse, and the Rogues hastily made their exit. Unfortunately, they immediately encountered the forces of Battle Bird Armada, who were being led by Speedy, in an attempt to steal the Key from them. He and his Pursuit Drones then chased the Rogues up one of the Gigan Mountains, but were ultimately defeated by them, due to their teamwork. However, the Grand Battle Kukku XV himself then intervened, destroyed the peak of one of the Gigan mountains, defeated the Rogues with his physical abilities and those of the Gravity Ring, and took the Key from them. However, he noticed their potential, and gave them the choice to rejoin the Armada, or be killed, which they reluctantly agreed to. He then used the combined abilities of the Gravity Ring and the Key to reveal the location of Babylon Garden. Recognizing it as beneath New Mobotropolis, the battle Lord mobilized Speedy and the Babylon Rogues into the Battle Fortress, and left the Gigan mountains.[1][2][3]
