The Gift Wrapped is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series
Description [ ] The Gift Wrapped's icon takes the form of a sparkling red and yellow present box. In gameplay, this power-up becomes a pair of twin yellow and red ribbons that follow the user.
Overview [ ] In gameplay, the Gift Wrapped can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Snowdrift Sonic .
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Gift Wrapped by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the Gift Wrapped will increase the speed of the user for a short amount of time. The duration of the Gift Wrapped is shown by the decreasing gauge on top of this power-up's icon on the bottom of the HUD whenever the Gift Wrapped is in effect. However, the Gift Wrapped will be disabled if the user collides with an obstacle while using it. In addition, any rival character who makes contact with the user while the Gift Wrapped is in effect will lose Rings and be wrapped up in a large pink and yellow present (giving a status akin to being frozen ).
The Gift Wrapped can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 2, 8 and 14 respectively. For each level, the Gift Wrapped's speed will be increased.
