Giant Zavok[3] is a transformation that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a form of Zavok achieved through a secret formula during the Lost Hex incident.[1]
Appearance[]
As the name implies, Giant Zavok simply resembles a much larger version of Zavok, with his spiked bracelets enlarged accordingly.
In IDW Publishing, Giant Zavok possesses large veins running across his body, with a Chaos Emerald at their center. His pupils and irises also disappear during his initial transformation.[2]
History[]
Sonic Lost World[]
In Sonic Lost World, after being defeated by Sonic in Lava Mountain, Zavok jumped down from their battle platform and transformed into Giant Zavok in a last-ditch effort to defeat the hedgehog. As he chased Sonic up through the large shaft of the base, however, Sonic used the loose terrain to his advantage and managed to knock Giant Zavok down the shaft, defeating him for good, and presumably reverting him back to his base form.
Powers and abilities[]
Like in his base form, giant Zavok is incredibly strong and resilient, except to a much greater degree. Additionally, he can fire deadly beams and large fireballs from his mouth, both of which pack destructive power.
In IDW Publishing, Giant Zavok also retains the ability to manipulate magnetic fields, which manifests as an aura of energy surges, which he can use to control nearby machinery with his mind. This also allows him to keep the Metal Virus from sticking to him.[4]
Battle[]
Giant Zavok is the final boss of Lava Mountain Zone 3, and the penultimate boss of the Wii U version and PC version of Sonic Lost World. He is fought at the end of Lava Mountain Zone 3 with Sonic the Hedgehog.
Boss guide[]
The boss fight begins immediately after the previous one, as Zavok will jump into the pit below the battlefield and grow to a giant size off-screen. From there, Zavok then slowly begins to climb up, destroying platform blocks as he goes. If the player falls into the pit where Zavok climbs it will cause the player to lose a life, so the player has to climb to higher platforms to keep ahead of him. While Zavok is climbing, he will also take pop-shots at Sonic by shooting fireballs and sweeping lasers from his mouth. The fireballs will destroy any platform it hits, and the sweeping laser will only destroy thin platforms, but sweeps across the entire course.
To damage Zavok at this point, the player has to use the Bound Jump to knock the explosive crates, which are suspended amongst the platforms that the player uses to climb, down at Zavok to damage him. The player can get in quite a few shots quickly by using the row of crates Zavok was using previously to deal a good chunk of damage, but barring that the player will have note his/hers surroundings when going for others which will block the player's shots. Zavok's fireballs can take care of that problem easily, though. After hitting Zavok with enough explosive crates, he will be defeated.

All or Nothing[]
After the Faceship crashed with Zavok onboard, just as he was about to bring the Metal Virus to Angel Island, the villainous Zeti used his Chaos Emerald Siphon to draw more power from his Chaos Emerald, allowing him to attain his Giant Zavok form. As Giant Zavok, Zavok hit Angel Island with giant fireballs before scooping up Zombots and throwing them up to Angel Island while using his electromagnetic powers to keep the Metal Virus from sticking to him.[2]
As he continued to hit Angel Island with his fireballs, Zavok found Sonic, Metal Sonic and Silver coming for his Chaos Emerald. Disappointed by this small group of opposition, Zavok vowed to Sonic that he would see to that his world fell to the Metal Virus. As Zavok tried to destroy Sonic and Metal Sonic with a fireball however, his attack got blocked by Metal Sonic's Black Shield . He then tried to reach for Metal and Sonic, only for Silver to erected a psychic force-field in front of his allies. Eventually though, Giant Zavok knocked Sonic and Metal Sonic to the ground with a massive breath attack. However, Sonic and Metal Sonic quickly began running up Zavok's giant body. As Zavok tried taking control of Metal Sonic and Sonic's Metal Virus-infected body however, Sonic managed to dislodge Zavok's Chaos Emerald from his Chaos Emerald Siphon. As Sonic then fell, Zavok tried to crush Sonic and Silver with his bare hands, only for Sonic and Silver to use the seven Chaos Emeralds they had to turn into Super Sonic and Super Silver. Regardless, Giant Zavok tried to attack them with his remaining strength, only for Super Sonic to swiftly defeat him and knock him out of his Giant Zavok state as he fell over in defeat.[4]
