Plot[]
The Chaos Council arrives in Ghost Hill to retrieve the Prism Shards. Sonic and Shadow go to fend off the Eggforcers while Nine works to reconstruct the Paradox Prism. Nine has to reconstruct it delicately and carefully, since rushing the reconstruction could have serious consequences. During the fight, The Council are shocked by the sight of Shadow, and believe him to be this world's version of Sonic.
Shadow tells Sonic that he still doesn't trust Nine, but Sonic is insistent about it. Sonic's reality is soon restored, but only for a brief moment, which temporarily restores the ghost versions of Sonic's friends to their normal state, therefore meaning that it's working. However, Nine still needs more time. Unfortunately, the Council has detected the Shards' combined energy and sent a squad of Eggforcers after it.
Deep and Babble are dispatched and upgraded with Prism Energy to distract Sonic and Shadow. The two Council members overpower the two hedgehogs while the Eggforcers attack Nine. Sonic returns to the Temple Mountain and informs Nine of the situation. At his request, Nine infuses Sonic with additional energy from the Prism. Sonic, with his speed and strength amplified with the additional energy, returns and defeats Babble and Deep. Eggman, refusing to admit defeat, creates a Prismatic Titan in the shape and form of his original counterpart and sends it toward the mountain.
Nine infuses Sonic with more Prism Energy to match the Titan's own energy frequency and Sonic uses it to destroy the Titan. After the battle, Sonic sees that Green Hill hasn't been restored yet, and Nine reveals that there's one more Shard in The Grim. He also reveals that he never truly intended to help Sonic restore his world and that he needed the Ghost Prism as a blueprint so that he could use the Paradox Prism to turn The Grim into the home he wants. Sonic tries to convince him otherwise, since he thought he and Nine would see things the same way just like how the "real" Tails would, Nine angrily points out that he is in fact real, but not Sonic's real friend. Sonic believes that Nine could grow to like his friends as much as he does. Nine tells Sonic that that is exactly what his problem is: he's always jumping into situations without thinking about what would happen next or even considering other people's feelings, which is exactly how Sonic shattered his own reality in the first place. Nine then fires a blast of energy, destroying the Ghost Prism's blueprint, allowing him to take the Shards to create his own world, much to Shadow's (who just arrived) anger, and Sonic's disappointment. Sonic begs for Nine to trust him, but Nine says that he can only trust himself before returning to The Grim with the four Shards, leaving Shadow furious and Sonic in complete despair about Nine's betrayal.
Errors[]
- When Nine is attempting to find out where the red Shard fits, for a brief moment, the blue and yellow Shards are seen as being separated, despite Nine putting the blue Shard in its original place in the Ghost Prism only a few moments ago.
- When Nine is contacting Sonic whilst fighting Eggforcers, the blue Shard covers up part of the Prism Crater that the Ghost Prism is sitting on.
- Also, during that same scene, the outline of where the green Shard is meant to go is missing the color green entirely, despite it being there in the previous scenes.
- During the shot of the Ghost Prism after Sonic says " 'Cause unless I can be more, y'know, me, we lose", the yellow Shard can be seen protruding outside of its place in the Prism.
- When Nine says "Of course. the last Shard is in The Grim.", a part of the Prism Crater is visible behind the blue Shard. It's also featured in "Grim Tidings", as it reused footage from this episode.
- When Nine says "Well, it's been a slice. A slice of reality, that is.", the red Shard is visibly seen as being disconnected from the blue Shard, despite Nine putting it in its original place in the Ghost Prism earlier in the episode.
- When Nine attempts to convince Sonic to go along with his plan, he says "Our new home in Grim.", when he should have said "Our new home in The Grim."
