The MARZA Animation Planet original short movie "Ghost Tale" is here!
15 years after the release of "Sonic: Night of the Werehog," the ghost are back!! We hope you enjoy the updated CGI and the story filled with laughter and tears (from laughing?!).
In the short, Su and Uh use the power of telekinesis to impress Lah by lifting up objects. Lah then tries to use telekinesis too, but lacks this power, so Su and Uh help her.
The short was released on 31 October 2023, about 15 years after the release of Sonic: Night of the Werehog.
Lah is a mischievous ghost and head of the haunted mansion, living with residents Su and Uh. She has a hobby of collecting photos of scared individuals and is a big fan of traditional ‘real world’ horror monsters. She is currently taking care of Baby Ghosts.
They are a supernatural breed of spirits. There seems to be individuality in some of their appearances, while others, like the Boos, share the same looks between them.
The earth, also referred to as Sonic's world, is the overall main setting of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Notable for its many oddities and hidden wonders, it is a lush and beautiful planet in Sonic's universe and is a similar version of the real Earth. The planet is inhabited by various creatures, most notably humans and anthropomorphic animals.
It is the home of ghosts. The mansion is located somewhere on earth and was first encountered by Sonic during his travels to piece together the planet. The perceived owner of the mansion appears to be Lah.
Plot[]
Somewhere in the world, Lah, Su and Uh, accompanied by Baby Ghosts, are spending time together in a haunted mansion under a full moon. The two male ghosts use their telekinetic abilities to lift objects around in a bid to try outdoing each other to impress Lah and the kids, with Uh dancing objects around with his techniques while Su displays power by lifting heavier objects. The baby ghosts don't care about their competition and play with the objects flying about.
Lah sees the Baby Ghosts having fun with the flying objects and decides to attempt pulling off the same thing. She spies a piano, heading over to it and looks back at Su and Uh to impress them for a change before facing the piano to lift it. But Lah is surprised she is unable to do so and after several attempts, she starting getting dejected. Su and Uh watches and feels bad for her.
Lah tears up over her inability and looking foolish in front of the other ghosts. However, she opens her eyes to find the piano hovering in the air. Relieved that she is able to do it, Lah flew with the baby ghosts to the piano as they played with the object. In actuality, it was Su and Uh struggling to hold the piano up for her. Heavy as it was, seeing Lah smiling was all they needed.
Later, Lah tests "her power" on a tree, causing Su and Uh to struggle much harder with bloodshot eyes to keep up their charade.

Trivia[]
The poster of the blue-furred "Wolfman" is likely a reference to Sonic the Werehog.
Lah also has posters that resemble classic Universal Horror movies, these include: Dracula, The Wolf Man, Frankenstein, and The Invisible Man.
Ghost Tale uses an all-new voice cast comprising of Japanese voice actors. This is different for Marza, as Sonic: Night of the Werehog used a mix of English and Japanese voice actors for the ghost trio.
On 8 December 2023, Marza Animation Planet released a comparison video between the storyboard reel and the short film itself.
