The Gem is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a type of jewel used for currency.

Like the Chaos Emeralds, the Gems are light blue, brilliant cut gems.
Overview
In Sonic Dash, Gems are used as a form of currency, like Rings and Red Star Rings. Unlike either of these though, they cannot be obtained by playing Zones; instead, the player can only get them by completing missions or by buying them at the shop in exchange of Red Star Rings.
In gameplay, Gems can be used to build houses for the Animals across the Zones; once a specific amount of certain Animals has been collected, the player can spend Gems to finish a building. Most of these buildings may also have three different aspects, which also changes the needed amount of Gems to build them.
