The Gekogeko[1] (ゲコゲコ[2]?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, frog-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

Gekogeko

The Gekogekos are based on frogs. They have spring-like legs which they use to jump around, and long yellow tongues. Their main coloring is green and blue, and have yellow eyes.

Overview[]

The Gekogekos only appear in Sonic Advance 3, where they appear exclusively in Sunset Hill. In gameplay, the Gekogekos hop back and forth in one place. When they spot the playable character however, the Gekogeko will stick their tongue out periodically in an effort to damage the player until they get out of their line of sight. Like most Badniks, the Gekogekos can be destroyed with any attack, releasing a Ring in the process.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, the Gekogekos are robots in Dr. Eggman's Badnik Horde. A group of them first appeared in the comics where they attacked the Freedom Fighters and the Wolf Pack, but got defeated.

A Gekogeko, from Sonic the Hedgehog #57.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing, a Gekogeko, alongside other Badniks, were attacking Sonic and Tangle when they were trespassing inside Eggperial City. Unfortunately for the Gekogeko, it would be easily destroyed by Tangle's tail.[3]

Trivia[]

  • Geko, like kero-kero, is a Japanese onomatopeia for the croaking of a frog.
  • Gekogekos also behave similarly to Leons. Their only differences are that Leons crawl around, while Gekogekos jump.
