Gaz is a character that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. He was an illusion of an anthropomorphic animal created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik to discourage Sonic the Hedgehog from the freedom fighting cause.
Appearance
Gaz looks almost identical to Del, except Gaz's ears are shorter. Like the rest of 2997's Mobians, Gaz was purple (apart from his hands) and wore a grey uniform emblazoned with a green and black 'thumbs down' symbol.
History
Gaz was made as a part of an illusion of a bleak Mobius in the year 2997. When Sonic the Hedgehog was put inside this illusion, Gaz and his partner Del found him, and Del explained where he was. The duo attempted to persuade Sonic to give up his fight against Dr. Robotnik, using the events around him as proof that he would never win. However, Sonic realized these events were being implanted in his head by a Badnik, so he broke the illusion and ended Gaz's existence.[1]
Personality
As per his design, while Gaz did not recognize Sonic, he was well-versed in his reality's stories about him and his defeat one thousand years ago. To further discourage Sonic, Gaz was completely content, even happy, with the abuse and punishment he would receive from hostile Badniks.[1]
