Gala the Hound[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. She is an anthropomorphic dog and apple farmer[1] who resides in Spiral Hill Village.

Concept and creation

Gala was named after the Gala apple, Evan Stanley's favorite type of apple.[1]

Appearance

Gala is an anthropomorphic Afghan Hound[2] with light blue fur, green eyes, and a peach-skinned muzzle with a sharp black nose. She also has fuzzy droopy ears and a medium-long fuzzy tail. For attire, she wears a pale yellow straw hat with a green band, a green short-sleeved shirt, blue overalls with light blue patches on the knees and yellow buttons, yellow fingerless work gloves, and brown shoes.

History

Tangle & Whisper

While at work in Spiral Hill Village, Gala saw someone who appeared to be Sonic the Hedgehog run through the streets. This character proceeded to jump onto and setting off from Gala's head as he was escaping from Whisper the Wolf, leaving Gala to pick up the apples she dropped.[3]

Darkest Hour

During a broadcast of Nite the Owl's K-TBR 199.2 radio station, Gala was the first caller. She exclaimed that she needed help as she was being followed by several people who looked sick and appeared to have metallic skin. Before Nite could get more information however, Gala was abruptly cut off as she fell to the Metal Virus.[4] She was eventually cured due to the efforts of Super Sonic and Super Silver.[5][2]
