Frozen Junkyard leads through Eggman's scrap processing facility littered with treacherous obstacles. Parts of the course is completely covered with ice, while other parts are plasmasteel metal and stands up against a cloudy sky. The course is decorated with many large, multicolored crystals and the Eggman Empire decals can be seen throughout the track.

Frozen Junkyard is a racing circuit located in Glacierland, a land of snow and ice. The entire track is located inside a giant claicer and includes the hidden wreckages of Dr. Eggman's various machines. Parts of the course is completely covered in ice, while other parts are plasma-steel metal. There are also many partially frozen robots and objects embedded in the ice, like the Egg Squid in the junkyard's ceiling or the Death Egg Robot sentinels right before the finish line. Along the track are also frozen containers and mechanical equipment. The course is decorated with many large, multicolored crystals and the Eggman Empire decals can be seen throughout the track.

Along the racetrack are official stands incorporated into the ice from where the smaller denizens of Sonic's world watch the races. In addition, there are balloons of Sonic and Shadow's heads floating around. There are also what appears to be metal structures frozen into the local ice, like Death Egg Robot sentinels.

Frozen Junkyard features several shortcuts available to Power-Types, making them a great choice to use in this track. There are also several automatic opening and closing ramps that the racers can take advantage of with the right timing.
In Frozen Junkyard, towards the end of the course, the player encounters obstacles like lethal beams that are fired from the Death Egg Robot sentinel outside the race track. If the player can get past the Death Egg Robot sentinel and get into it’s body, Boost Pads will help the player get out the robot without slowing down.

Along the track are several ice pillars which Power-Types can easily smash through and gain Rings as a result. Alternatively, the player can destroy the ice pillars with Wisp power-ups. These pillars will regenerate after a few seconds after getting destroyed however. There are also different routes blocked by cracked ice walls that the Power-Type characters and Wisp power-ups can break through as well. Once broken down, these paths will stay open, allowing teammates and enemies alike to access them. Red-and-white striped fields also appear along the roads, which non-Technique-Type characters cannot drive over without losing speed. There is also a door in the race track's scrapyard area that opens and closes regularly all the time; getting caught under this door when it closes will literally flatten the racer, causing them to lose Rings and temporarily slow down.

One of the last obstacles the player encounters along the track include laser beams that are fired from a Death Egg Robot sentinel. Touching them will cause the playable character to take damage and spin out for a while.

The race begins with the racers entering a tunnel, which splits into two routes that spiral around the tunnel before reconnecting at the tunnel's outlet. The route on the right is shorter but more dangerous due to the ice pillars along it. The route on the left on the other hand is longer, but has no obstacles along it. After leaving the tunnel, the player will drive alongside an ice wall. Along this section is a route behind the cracked ice walls on the left that runs parallel to that of the main road. If the racers can break down these ice walls, they can access a hidden shortcut. This shortcut has cracked ice walls at its end and along the wall separating it from the main road which the player can bust through in order to reenter the main road.

Eventually, the hidden shortcut and the main road will rejoin, just before a fork in the road appears. These two roads split off and bend in such a manner that they run back-to-back with each other on a single stretch of ice. As such, the shape of these two roads mirror each other down to the tiniest detail. However, halfway through this section, the roads make a sharp turn and there is no railing on the outer edge of these roads that keeps the racers from falling off the road. As such, the player has to be careful when driving through this road's turn. After the roads reconnect, the player will enter the scrapyard. Here, there are ice pillars and closed-off shipping containers for Power-Type characters to bash through and red-and-white fields for the Technique-Type characters to take shortcuts across. This area also has metal ramps, which every now and then rise and fall. Players can jump off these ramps.

Although the player can go straight through the scrapyard section, they can also take a sideroute on the right. This sideroute can be accessed through a gate that resembles a face with a door for a mouth that opens and closes regularly all the time. Should the player make it through this gate, they will enter a metal tunnel. Eventually though, the sideroute and the main route will rejoin with each other, forming a fairly wide road. At the end of this road is a Death Egg Robot sentinel that shoots two eye lasers along one of three sets of red-glowing double-lines burned into the road. Avoid these lasers at all costs. At the end of the road is a wide spring that will launch the player into the Death Egg Robot sentinel's torso where they will pass through a shuttle loop. After the shuttle loop, the player will hit another wide spring that will send them back onto the last ice road. From there, the player has to pass through a sharp turn to the right in order to reach the finish line.

Frozen Junkyard is a race track that appears in Team Sonic Racing.

Description

In the background along the racetrack, one can see flying grandstands with cheering Chao on them and floating ice cubes. In addition, there are balloons fashioned in the image of Sonic and Shadow's heads that float around the starting/finishing line.

Gameplay

Frozen Junkyard features several shortcuts available to Power-Types, making them a great choice to use in this track. There are also several automatic opening and closing ramps that the racers can take advantage of with the right timing.

If the racers can break down these ice walls, they can access a hidden shortcut. This shortcut has cracked ice walls at its end and along the wall separating it from the main road which the player can bust through in order to reenter the main road.

Frozen Junkyard also has its own mirror image version of it where the left and right sides are interchanged.
