From the Notes of Mina Mongoose[1] was a pair of short stories published on the now-defunct Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog blog, written by Ian Flynn. As with all blog short stories, both parts are mostly composed of text, but occasionally include reused panels from the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series to relate to the subject. The stories are presented in-universe as notes written among Mina Mongoose's music notation.
The first entry details events in the Iron Dominion Takeover from Mina's point of view, and takes place sometime between issues #208 and #209 of the main series. It was published on 3 December 2010.[1]
The second entry is set sometime in-between issues #221 and #223, and details Mina's feelings of guilt in regard to the negative and rebellious effect her song had on the citizens of New Mobotropolis. It was published on 17 March 2011.[2]

Part one[]

- Once, I wanted to be a Freedom Fighter. I tried, I trained. Then I froze, I panicked, I screwed up... I realized it wasn't doing it for the right reasons. So I quit.
- And now I'm out here acting like a Freedom Fighter oh man oh man oh man . . .
- We keep trying to find folks in the city and get them to the hidey-holes.
- This is hard enough with all the bat-ninja and hooded guys running around, but Nicole makes it almost impossible.
- One minute it's "hurry hurry hurry and save these guys over here!"
- So I run over there and the it's "all hail the Iron Dominion" and a tree tries to grab me.
- Only it's not a tree, but a big metal hand and...
- My band has been awesome.
- Ash has been amazing.
- They didn't even train to be Freedom Fighters, but they're doing everything they can.
- Mach got put in a Prison Egg for a day but we got him out.
- Ash is trying to be a tough guy, but he trembles all the time - even when he sleeps.
- I leave Knothole to tour and it burns to the ground.
- I come home to New Mobotropolis and it gets invaded.
- What am I supposed to do?
Part two[]
- This isn't what I wanted. This isn't what I wanted AT ALL.
- I thought the message in my music was clear.
- The people needed to stop sitting back and letting the Freedom Fighters do everything.
- Sonic and the others needed to stop pretending like everything reset perfectly and that everything was fine.
- Everyone needed to wake up, look at the problems, and deal with them.
- Instead, everyone is so...angry and afraid!
- That kind of negative energy was supposed to be channeled into discussion!
- It was supposed to get people to be active, not destructive!
- I need to make this right.
- Maybe the sound was too rough.
- Maybe an acoustic song or two would soften the message?
- Something informal to make people feel more at ease.
- I need to rally the boys. It's time we made things right.
