From the Journal of the Iron King[1] was a short story published on the now-defunct Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog blog, written by Ian Flynn. Presented as a journal entry, it details events during in the Iron Dominion Takeover from the perspective of Jun Kun (the Iron King), and takes place sometime between issues #200 and #210 of the main series. The story is mostly composed of text, but occasionally includes reused panels from the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series to relate to the subject. It was published on 19 January 2011.

- I dislike this place. I disliked the clouds as we flew in. I disliked the look of the puny Dark Egg Legionnaires. I do not like the name "Dark Egg Legion."
- He is puny, and pale, and weak. His high nasal voice is like that of a small, annoying bug.
- I do not understand how she tolerates him. She has said Dr. Eggman kept him around to abuse him.
- That I can understand.
- That I can encourage.
- But she does not hit him. She does not even curse at him! She laughs at him and pats him on the head like a pet.
- A tiny, ugly, whiny pet.
- And she as forbade me from slapping him about. What good is he then?
- The Legion does not respect him, the Yagyu do not answer to him, and I cannot beat him.
- I do not like this place. I am eager to return to the Dragon Kingdom.
- ...his name is "Snively" for pity's sake!
