It's odd being back on Angel Island.
I look at the jungles and the vast horizons and it feels like home again, but also very alien. I had hoped that one day I could show this to Meg.
The move from the Feral Forest had already wowed her. I had wanted to see her expression the first time she saw the island in the air.
Instead, we're here by Warp Ring, narrowly escaping death.
I keep forgetting she is used to a quieter life. She's handled the chaos very well, I think. Alexis is safe with us, and I think that gives Meg something to focus on.
The Guardian has...sorry, he insists I just call him "Knuckles."
I insisted that, for the moment, he return the sentiment and just call me "Elias."
He seemed to appreciate that.
Anyway, Knuckles has led us to a small settlement in the Mushroom Hills.
The accommodations are rustic and damaged, but it's at least some form of civilization. Some have even said it reminds them of early Knothole.
We will rebuild, repair, and I will do my best to organize us while we wait for word from the Freedom Fighters.
We must be prepared for more refugees.
I asked Knuckles to whom these homes used to belong.
He didn't answer, and given the way he looked when I asked, I've decided not to pursue the matter further.
