From the Journal of Espio[1] was a short story published on the now-defunct Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog blog, written by Ian Flynn. Presented as a journal entry, it details events during in the Iron Dominion Takeover from the perspective of Espio the Chameleon, and takes place sometime between Sonic the Hedgehog #204 and Sonic Universe #15. The story is mostly composed of text, but occasionally includes reused panels from the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series to relate to the subject. It was published on 17 January 2011.

- I feel conflicted over...everything.
- It is good to be home again and among the Shinobi Clan.

- Where sneaking is just the way of life rather than my job.
- But I miss Angel Island. I miss my friends.
- I miss the...freedom I had with them.

- I explained the situation to the Bride. I could not claim the Master Emerald for the Bride of Four Houses and maintain my vigil of the Guardian without ending his life.
- She was...very understanding. Surprisingly understanding.
- Perhaps...perhaps she is could be convinced to do more. If there was something I could use, some kind of outside reason, I might be able to convince her to move the clan away from the Iron Dominion.
- Until then...I must perform my duty.
