From the Email of Rouge the Bat[1][2] was a pair of short stories published on the now-defunct Archie Comics Sonic Universe blog, written by Ian Flynn. As with all blog short stories on the site, both parts are mostly composed of text, but occasionally include reused panels from the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series to relate to the subject. The stories are presented in-universe as email conversations between Rouge the Bat and Abraham Tower.

The first part takes place shortly before the events of Sonic Universe #21, and was published on 5 November 2010.

Despite being released later, the second part chronologically takes place significantly before the first one, being placed shortly prior to the events of Sonic Universe #2, and the Invasion of the Eggdome. It was published on 30 November 2010.

TO: Commander Abraham Tower, G.U.N. Director
FROM: Agent Rouge the Bat, Team Dark
SUBJECT: Authorization to Investigate?
Hey there, handsome.
Given how things ended in our last little jaunt into the Special Zone, I understand the decision to lock down the project. Besides, it's hard to trump the two Chaos Emeralds we already have.
(I note that I'm not authorized to even look at them without you present and an armed escort. Paranoid, much?)
Given all that, I thought you'd be interested to know Little Miss State Secret detected a very similar energy signature blipping in and out of the region near the Great Forest. (And, seriously, this network is secure. Can't I just call her by her name? "Team Dark #4" is just so . . . blah)
Anyway, we know the Chaos Emeralds can pop up announced. That green one's origin is still unaccounted for, after all.
And the signal, weak as it is, is right on the doorstep of the Freedom Fighters. I could certainly find it for us without a fuss, but I'm going to need authorization now so we can get there in time.
And I mean "we." A girl can't go sight-seeing without her boys, can she?
I'll be preparing the mission in expectation of your wise and generous approval.
P.S. I know how much you LOVE it when I keep things informal, so I kept the tone of this requisition light-hearted. <3

Part two[]

TO: Commander Abraham Tower, G.U.N. Director
FROM: Agent Rouge the Bat, Espionage
SUBJECT: Are you serious?
Look, Abe, I know you've got your reasons. I'm not a "bigger picture" kind of gal, and I'll let you do the commanding.
But what's the big idea of sending just the two of us in to do a little side mission? If we have the intelligence to spot a weapon aimed at the two teams, why aren't we deeper in this?
They've got some talented people in the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix, but come on now - Shadow and I could have this all wrapped up in no time. Why are we saving them from the weapon but not sticking around for the strike against the EggDome? This could be over in minutes rather than hours.

TO: Agent Rouge the Bat, Espionage
FROM: Commander Abraham Tower, G.U.N. Director
SUBJECT: RE: Are you serious?
Agent Rouge,
Your orders are to infiltrate New Megaopolis with Agent Shadow and provide support to the local resistance. This support is in the form of disabling and/or destroying an Eggman Empire weapon. Minimal contact with the local resistance is paramount. Details are in your mission packet.

You can be a real jerk sometimes, boss.

Agent Rouge,
It's a "bigger picture" thing. Consult your mission packet.
