Big the Cat, Sonic the Hedgehog Annual 2020

Froggy is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. He is a frog and Big the Cat's best friend and companion.

Froggy is a non-anthropomorphic green frog with a round body and four limbs. His limbs are rather thin, and each one has webbed feet with two toes each. He also has a white underbelly, orange stripes around his body, and red dots on his chins. He also has medium-large eyes with pale yellow sclera and wide black pupils.

Big's Big Adventure

One day, Froggy began leading Big the Cat to several locations, including Vista View, Riverside and Barricade Town. He led Big next to Spiral Hill Village and decided to hang around the outskirts of the village. However, this caused Big to lose sight of Froggy. Much later, Big was able to find Froggy once again after he had fished for him in the area. As the duo were happily reunited and journeyed home, they were confronted by Zombots. Big fended off the Zombots using his Fishing Rod in order to protect Froggy. The frog himself hopped off the head of one of the infected in order to help. After Big tied up the Zombots, they went back to the Mystic Ruins. Unbeknownst to Froggy, by touching the Zombots, he had gotten infected with Metal Virus. As he and Big watched the sunset, Froggy slowly turned into a Zombot and in turn was infecting Big, as well as the flora around them.[1]

All or Nothing

A cured Froggy rests on an annoyed Eggman, from Sonic the Hedgehog #29.

After the Deadly Six had taken over Dr. Eggman's plans, Zavok used his powers to lead a large horde of Zombots to Angel Island, which included Froggy. After the Faceship was effectively destroyed by Rouge, Zavok became Giant Zavok to attack the survivors on Angel Island. From this, he grabbed a handful of Zombots, including Froggy, and threw them onto the island's surface to face the survivors there. During the scuffle, when Dr. Eggman tried to run away, he slipped on Froggy. From this, the Zombot frog jumped high in the air to attack the screaming doctor. Eventually, with the combined efforts of Super Sonic and Super Silver, they were able to warp the entirety of the Metal Virus away from the world and to the sun. This act turned Froggy back to normal, leaving the frog to peacefully croak while resting on a defeated Eggman's back.[2][3]

Out of the Blue

Froggy reunited with Big on Angel Island. When Big pointed out that Eggman was fleeing the island, he jumped out of his hands and hopped around while the cat chased after him.[4] Froggy would later run away again while visiting Spiral Hill Village with Big.[5]

Froggy is a simple-minded frog that does whatever he wants at any given time. Though he is not known to exactly listen to anyone, he can be slightly obedient with Big.

Big the Cat

Big is Froggy's best friend. He enjoys his company and lives with him in the Mystic Ruins. Sometimes, however, Froggy has been known to run off independently away from Big, which prompts Big to come looking for him. However, he is always glad to be reunited with him and come back to their home.[1]
