The FriendDex, also known as the Chao Collection, is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a kiosk for revealing one's Chao collection, and is the system for unlocking any designated Master Chao.

Appearance

The FriendDex is a large kiosk with a large pale blue screensaver when viewed from the façade. It is very similar to a vending machine, but it lacks an incubator, nor any Ring and orb, which have been replaced with a hologram projector displaying the Master Chao of its given world.

Overview

In Sonic Speed Simulator, the FriendDex is a location that was added to the game as a part of the version 1.7 update. It can be found near the starting point in Green Hill.

In gameplay, the FriendDex is used to keep track of all the the Chao native to Green Hill that the player has collected over the course of the game. When opening a FriendDex, the player can check an index on how many Chao of the different Chao they have collected from Green Hill, and how close they are to unlocking the designated Green Hill Master Chao. Notably, the player does not need to have one of these Chao in their possession; as long as they have held one of the required Chao at one point, then the FriendDex will register that Chao in its index. If they player gets all twenty of the required Chao from Green Hill, they will unlock the Green Hill Master Chao at the FriendDex.
