Well, I was absent for the duration of its banning. I see why it was banned, being the male anatomy in another language, but apart from that, I find PINGAS to be very harmless. Robotnik wasn't even intended to say the word, so I don't see the big deal. Even though I generally hate memes with a passion, the prohibition of their use is just cruel to me. Personally, I would prefer it if Pingas was unbanned. It has never been used in the context of the male anatomy in all of my days of being on chat. It's only used as just a random exclamation that is iterated from time to time. It's all in good clean fun and I think people are thinking to seriously on the subject. It's a funny Sonic meme that many people have enjoyed including myself. All right, let me address this in the best manner I can try: The Sonic News Network has barely a tendency to use terms of male or female anatomy, and while I was originally slightly against the continued allowance of the mock term "pingas", my reasoning was too illogical to argue with. "Pingas", if I remember is properly confirmed, is the word "penis" in another language. Realizing this, it should be addressed we do not want people going around shouting this word on the chat. As I mentioned in the previous forum regarding this topic, it's not necessary to create an entire site discussion for something so minor. Edsta, all you had to do was contact an admin, preferably me since I was the one who closed the other Pingas forum, and consult with me regarding your reasons as to why that word should be allowed. Personally, I don't care if the word is in use or not. It doesn't seem to be a problem, but at the same time there are several users who are expressing concern for the use of that word. I ultimately decided that it's inappropriate, and thus, shouldn't be used. And technically, it's not a blacklisted word. Anyone is free to use it, but if it becomes inappropriate, that person who made it inappropriate should be warned. How's that for a compromise? While I do not have any particular opinions about use of the word "pingas", the original discussion (Forum:Userbox PINGAS Ban) was in violation of our rules because it was closed on the same day it opened. - There have been a few other problems regarding meme usage, such as the use of emoticons of a few different "rage-faces". The main issue that's being conversed here is if people will take the saying of the part-gibberish word "pingas" the wrong way (the same of which somewhat applies to the aforementioned emoticons). This is the internet, after all, and misunderstandings will be made. But, I must admit by now, that if people really don't like the phrase, then that shouldn't be a massive complaint.
