Result: Success! All user templates appropriately moved to the userspace. All future user templates are to be placed in the userspace. Only templates used for site administration and the mainspace articles belong in the template namespace.
I suggest that templates only relevant to either mainspace articles, images, categories, or any other categories used for the wiki itself be the only ones allowed to use the template namespace.
Essentially, I'm suggesting that all personal templates, such as one for signatures and talkbubble, be moved to the userspace of a user. For example, my signature is currently in the template namespace. If this goes through, it and all other personal templates will be moved to a user subpage, which is more appropriate for said templates. The template namespace should be used for mainspace articles and related namespaces only - templates used for the wiki itself, not for personal usage. It's much more professional this way, and it only makes sense, as the template namespace isn't necessarily intended for personal templates anyways. We should be using our own userspace for that sort of stuff. --Bullet Francisco(talk)Contributions Editcount 16:27, May 4, 2013 (UTC)
This seems like a good idea, may take time but as long as I am told where my talk bubble will go and how to make it appear (I don't know how to make a signature) I think we should do this. Psyche the Hedgehog 1997 (Talk)
You sign your signiture with four tides (~~~~). Myself 123 19:33, May 14, 2013 (UTC)
You could help out by finding templates and moving them (leaving a redirect behind), and listing the original and the destination below with a double/indented bullet. (Double/indented bullet is important as I need to know which ones to add to the bot.) -- Supermorff (talk) 08:21, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
There's one problem with this. Because a user's subpages are liable to be deleted after the user has not edited for whatever amount of time it is, all the pages that use those subpage templates will have a bunch of redlinks if the user becomes inactive. Exceptions should be made for signature templates. If not, then a bot can replace the signature template with InsertNameHere (talk) Problem solved. --Bullet Francisco(talk)Contributions Editcount 22:19, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
I thought that would be the case. But what if the signature template was not saved under InsertNameHere/Signature? The bot would go ahead and delete the template unknowingly. PhysTheEchidna (talk) 22:23, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
If it wasn't saved under /Signature, it would be saved under something such as /Sig or /Signature2. Because this information (to my knowledge) should be entered manually for the bot to cleanup the red links on other pages, this shouldn't be a problem. --Bullet Francisco(talk)Contributions Editcount 22:28, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
I was pretty sure it would be okay... I just have no knowledge on bots :P PhysTheEchidna (talk) 22:30, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
Again, if people are willing to help out, they can move templates to the correct new title, then list both the old and new page names below with a double bullet. That is
SU> Yes, talkbubbles will be moved too. -- Supermorff (talk) 19:59, May 24, 2013 (UTC)
Update: I think all signatures have now been renamed and their links fixed. Let me know if I missed one. Talkbubbles next. -- Supermorff (talk) 08:46, May 25, 2013 (UTC)
This process would be going a lot faster if other people were helping. Bullet, since this was your idea, why don't you go through Category:Talkbubbles and rename the ones I haven't got to yet, and add them to the list below. -- Supermorff (talk) 08:52, June 23, 2013 (UTC)
