Recently, a lot of users have been adding fan artworks that does not belong to them and tracing other's artworks. I seem to be the only one noticing this and I am pretty much tired of sending a friendly message to them to remove the art does not belong to them.
Since this rule had a discussion in a form of a blog, I think it is obvious that many might not know about this rule yet. So I made this into a forum, so that people will be able to know about this rule just like how they know that vandalism isn't allowed either: RULE: THE ART POLICYIt's a rule that has been always there but it turned out to be unknown by users and not noticed by administrators:
I will deal with this rule very strictly because I have a personal experience with artwork. The images will be removed. All rules listed have the same punishment. However, if one persists to claim ownership of a drawing they do not own or goes further with other lies, I believe the user should be banned for a month. Also, if one thinks they can get away with stealing or tracing a drawing then they are wrong. I am not sure if others would, but I for sure will nearly always be able to notice. I don't mean to boast or to show-off but I will notice most drawings that are stolen or traced if not every. But honestly, don't think I need to search alot, I just have to look at the picture to tell. Even if I have never seen that image before, honestly. If you have any questions or anything to argue about, feel free to. Does this mean that all pictures of recolors (official Sonic artwork)will be removed? -- Splash the Otter C E 06:15, November 6, 2011 (UTC) Of course. Anyway, i'm agreed on this rule. -- 06:16, November 6, 2011 (UTC)@FreeSmudger: Re-colors of official artworks are allowed, not other's fan works however. @Cesar: Thanks!--58SlugDrones • (Contact) 06:19, November 6, 2011 (UTC) Then I agree with this! Art is so easily plagerized (I don't know how to spell it) and it shouldn't be on this wiki. -- Splash the Otter C E 06:15, November 6, 2011 (UTC) I suppose. Merely stealing, tracing, claiming false ownerhsip, editing etc. of other fanwork is against the rules. Otherwise all art is allowed besides mature content in artwork.--58SlugDrones • (Contact) 06:26, November 6, 2011 (UTC) Yeah. Somehow those kinds of artwork editing you mentioned drive me the wrong way when i see them. It's like satying "Aw come on. That's not yours and you know it" or "Get a talent" -- 06:28, November 6, 2011 (UTC)Agreed with Cesar. However, I am making this rule because it could be offensive for the original artist. Not exactly because the person isn't talented.--58SlugDrones • (Contact) 06:32, November 6, 2011 (UTC) Hmmmm.... *nods* Fair enough. SFW has art policy like this, so I see no problem with it.--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 07:04, November 6, 2011 (UTC) They do? Well that proves my point further.--58SlugDrones • (Contact) 07:25, November 6, 2011 (UTC)
