H-Hey, how's it goin', folks? I'm not sure if I should be doing this since I'm not a crat but...

I'm here for a little announcement that I've been 'semi-working' on recently.

What's the plan?

I am the man.

The man with the plan?

Exactly.

So my latest project here is what I call Reducing SNN where I and all of us soon if agreed, try to make SNN more convenient. How do we do that? Simple:

Number 1: Main Pages

So most pages on SNN are far too redundant. Most larger pages have too much 'little' and useless info. A good example is from Dr. Eggman's page, the text is about a scene a few seconds long:

Actual Text

  • After the end credits it is shown that both Eggman got stuck in white limbo and are unable to get out. After arguing whether or not they would ever win, they finally concluded that they could not because of Sonic. Classic Eggman decided that he would instead pursue his "teaching degree" after these events, to which Modern Eggman agreed. It is unknown what happened to them after that moment or if they could ever escape from the limbo, or if their plans to pursue teaching degrees were serious or humorous.
  • While this seems contradictory towards Eggman's previous exploits of joining forces with other creatures bent on destruction, it seems that he still wishes to paint his grandfather in a positive light as he was his hero in his childhood.

Now this just makes it harder for readers to read, since one scene is elaborated too much. Make things brief and easy to read for the help of others. There is no need for all cut scenes having : He said this in this place but she said this which could mean this as she said this like that and then he slowly leaves with his right arm behind his left

Most cut scene and persona's are that largely elaborated. So if you ever come across something like this, make it brief, easy to read, elaborate it, give outline, highlight significance and don't throw cereal boxes of detail.

Number 2: Images

We have a lot of images here but many being pretty useless or just not up to quality standards.

We have way too many screenshots for one game and most don't have any significance, like Sonic 06 has 100+ different screenshots, many which are scans, a few seconds after the other and lack significance in the stage. So it's best some useless screenies here and there are deleted. Here is a good example and how it shouldn't but has been done :

Also, Images that have watermarks of different companies like IGN-Gamespot for example, should be deleted. There aren't under our rights, it's best we don't use theirs if getting screenshots for the game are available everywhere else. We should have more images like that on the Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed/Gallery page in the screenshots section. They are HQ, Taken by SNN and mark significance in the tracks.

So do your duty!

That's all ^__^ --Quack Like you mean it 16:37, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

(If you ask me, this shouldn't be a site discussion, because I don't think that this task could ever be completed, and as such it would surely be closed prematurely) I think all of us know this problem and what to do about it, but we never got around to it. Let's get motivated here. -- Shadowunleashed13 (talk) 17:10, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

I'll remain neutral on the main pages, but the images, I strongly support. Pacmansonic138 (talk) 18:56, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

Just pointing this out, but should I remind that, some people here have strange way to put awfully edited and cut screenshots, which are focus only to the character, mostly taken from cut-scenes? It's not like we can't recognize the character on full screenshot without cut and paste the closeup picture of it. I do not condescend to give examples, but think about it, you can logically see the character without problems. - MarioSonic (talk) 19:09, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

I totally support having these long pages & sections shortened it's gets so long you can't read the entire article. SilverPlays97 (Wall) (Contributions) 01:39, August 1, 2013 (UTC)

Hope for the best, Bob. And I didn't quite get your point, MarioSonic. --Quack Like you mean it 12:09, August 1, 2013 (UTC)

I Agree, however with pictures I strongly agree to delete the different companies and perhaps we should cut them out if we screen shotted it from a video? User:SplashTheHedgehog/Signature3 18:02, August 1, 2013 (UTC)

Both of these seem like good suggestions. -- Supermorff (talk) 07:20, August 3, 2013 (UTC)

>Much obliged. --Quack Like you mean it 07:34, August 3, 2013 (UTC)

I agree on some of the images, as many of them are quite redundant. And while some articles may require a thorough copy-edit to streamline them a bit, I don't think that they should be shortened at all. I mean no offense, but it smacks of laziness to me when people complain that something is "too long to read." SNN is an encyclopedia, and thus it should serve as such. The articles should reflect that. Each article should serve as a summary of the subject matter, with sources listed for people to peruse for more information. Thus, I would expect that articles concerning major characters would be relatively detailed to include the nuances seen in the games. To remove that information just because people complain about it "being too long" seriously smacks of laziness.

If you think those articles are too long, take a look at Wedge Antilles, here, Wookieepedia's longest article. Should we cut information from that because it's "too long to read"? Of course not! The information must be presented.

Now, if the problem is redundant wording, then simply take the time to go through the article and give it a thorough copy-edit. You could knock out lots of extraneous sentences that way. But don't remove information entirely simply because an article is "too long to read." Trak Nar Ramble on 08:31, August 3, 2013 (UTC)

I thought that was what Duck was suggesting. -- Supermorff (talk) 11:25, August 3, 2013 (UTC)
Yes that was exactly what I suggested, I never said anything about removing info, that'd be pretty pointless. Just briefing long and over-redundant paragraphs. --Quack Like you mean it 11:27, August 3, 2013 (UTC)

I agree with this. Making the articles more brief and to-the-point is what I do here most of the time. I would be glad if others could help out.--SlugDrones • (Contact) 11:57, August 3, 2013 (UTC)

I agree on removing over-redundant paragraphs and pictures, but if it contains information, then I like to draw a line. While I am aware that there is something as overly detailed, I like to follow the examples of better wikis, and these wikis have detailed information on a subject. I therefore agree on reduction, but not at the cost of letting out certain points.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 12:18, August 3, 2013 (UTC)

No.1: I'm not sure. It doesn't look easy to do since some key informtion can be quite long. No.2: Agreed with images. Mystic Orb: Who do you think I am? What do you want? What do I do? 12:25, August 3, 2013 (UTC)

Small pages should be merged with some related page. Screenshots? Crop the logos. User:XxTinkaStarxX/Signature3 19:08, August 3, 2013 (UTC)

Disagree with both of Tinka's suggestions. -- Supermorff (talk) 12:46, August 4, 2013 (UTC)
Per Morff. BlueSpeeder (talk) 18:10, August 9, 2013 (UTC)

I changed my mind. I don't care if the images are not exactly HQ but at least of decent quality. Mystic Orb: Who do you think I am? What do you want? What do I do? 08:44, August 13, 2013 (UTC)
