I've got alot of time in my hand these days. Once again, I'm on with changing the look of the wiki. It's not that I was bored of the previous look. I just didn't have that much time those days. It's my fault I just jumped in, I apologize for that.

But this time we'll be doing this nice and slow, alright? This time we'll make something everyone can agree on, so we'll have to think carefully. I want to decide a look we can keep for years to come. Because I've also heard that some users didn't like the older look. If you don't like any suggestion in this forum don't be afraid to say it.

This discussion isn't only about the wallpaper, but anything regarding the look in general. From templates to headers to the chat system. Just say it out. After this discussion, I don't want to hear a "I didn't even like the look". Your chance is right here.

Background

Looks great and far better than the previous. However the only issue I have with your backgrounds is the, it's resolution it's too small, even though there are file size problems. Many people have different resolution screens, with a small resolution (800 x 600 or 1280 x 960 ones) the background will have too much white spacing and with a large one (like 1366 x 768 or much more) the background will hide most of the Sonics. Maybe you can fit it to one type of background in one consistency for most resolutions. --Quack 08:40, June 25, 2013 (UTC)

I'm guessing the header is red because it's a reference to Sonic's shoes. I personally believe it's a much unique choice of color instead of having everything be blue. As for the new look as a whole, I like it very much. It's a lot more "Sonic-y" and a much brighter atmosphere which makes the wiki appear more friendly and less dark than before. @Drones: Well about the resolution:

This is my resolution which is 1336 x 768 covering almost the entire Sonic

This is what it looks like on a small screen and it should look like that. Even though it can fix to all small resolutions, I suggest you turn the white spaces blue

I haven't noticed anything because I am a MonoBook Wikian. It's nice that SNN hasn't deleted it's MonoBook skin. I noticed some other Wiki's given up on it and just just the new look. It's a bit difficult to interpret whether we want to use red or blue for the header and footer, so I'll start up a voting section.

Project: Game Templates

Sorry to disturb this regular forum, but under the Project: Game Templates, we will be making new templates that will contain every piece of information of the Sonic games. Because of this, I have two models of the template: the one with the picture is mine, while the one below is Ultrasonic9000's choice. I would like to ask which template would you prefer to be used, as we already have one template made and used on mainspace articles. Also, many people want the picture to be removed, while I don't. I like your template. I think the picture makes the template look a lot more interesting, and it sure does attract my attention. Without the picture, I wouldn't pay much attention to it. MetalMickey272

Alright, a couple days ago we had a forum based off the location template. I think all inboxes should look of it did as it made our infoboxes more unique and made the pictures already a set size. Ultra's Template

New Suggestion

As I suggested on BlueSpeeder (talk) (contributions) and Ultrasonic9000 (talk) (contributions)'s talk pages, I believe that these templates are too exorbitant. I would prefer something as seen on Zeldapedia. I would also like to use only neutral, light shades of blue for these templates as they fit the theme better. Colors such as dark blue and dark red don't seem to work. I'm not the biggest fan of the images on the templates either, and I would prefer something as seen on Zeldapedia. I think you're talking about Ultra's template. I was talking about Blue's. :/ The image in Blue's template does not clutter text or leave white space. I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but looking at the standard poster for a game doesn't give me the sudden urge to look at screenshots and artwork from the game. I just don't like the image's presence on the template. It's too big, too distracting, and clutters text. Why does this matter? Why are we voting in the first place? We're going about this all wrong! I thought users were supposed to make their own templates quietly and calmly. Isn't that the way it's been done before? Then why are we making such a big deal of this specific template? It's just another box at the bottom of the page; the readers probably don't care. We're not accomplishing anything, period, except hurting Blue's feelings.

Blue just wanted to let us know about this small project he was starting. We encouraged him; it was a great idea. But now this has turned into a mess. Others try to make their own templates, Ultra tries to make his own design, and we complain about the stuff we claimed to like on Blue's blog. Now we're voting to pretty much reject Blue's design altogether. So what have we accomplished? All we have done is hurt Blue's feelings. We're making him feel useless and unwanted. He just wanted to help, but we're trying to take over for him. I don't know about you, but Blue's feelings are WAY more important than a silly box at the bottom of an internet article about a video game. We ought to be ashamed of ourselves! I think we all owe Blue an apology, especially Bullet and me for making a big deal out of this.

If we really want to go ahead with this, do it in a more loving manner. Give Blue a bigger say. Maybe create a new standard design for all navboxes and change Blue's template to fit the standard design. I would suggest revamping navboxes entirely and changing them all to fit one or two designs. I think Blue's and Ultra's designs would work as the new designs for a nice compromise. -- Shadowunleashed13 (talk) 14:22, August 15, 2013 (UTC)

ShU, the community has the rights to say that they prefer one design over the other. It is not their fault if they prefer 'no image' in the template.

Blue, we like your idea, which is why we have this discussion. But UltraSonic has come up with his design too. Just because you made it first doesn't mean the users can't voice their opinion on which design they like better. Basically reiterating what Drones has already said: BlueSpeeder, you have been a fantastic contributor to this project. We appreciate your efforts to improve the navigation system of the wiki. With that said, you need to be open to feedback and suggestions. If we are going through with this, I want it to be presented in the most optimum way conceivable. Ultrasonic9000's design is based off of your idea. Think of your template as a prototype. There are always going to be various ways to improve upon that original design, and this is exactly what Ultrasonic9000 has done here. In my opinion, he has taken your idea and improved upon it. This is something that the majority of good contributors do. They help out their fellow users and throw in their two cents. They collaborate with their peers, they don't work against them. I understand that you feel insulted and hurt. This is human nature. However, perhaps you should take a step back to look at the repercussions of your behavior. Acting cynical and insolent hasn't advanced us in our ultimate goal to improve the navigation aspect of the wiki, now has it? Be open-minded! Embrace change! Work with Ultrasonic9000, not against him. I apologize if I have ever come across as hostile to you over the course of the project, however, this is a lesson that you need to learn. I HAVE listen to others! I HAVE my own opinion on these templates! Every since I've showed them on this wiki, everyone just complains and neglects my design in the first place! I'm not changing the templates unless the image is on there. I'll go as far as to have Ultra's design but the image must stay on there. If not, I'm removing the templates. I'm sick of this forum. I'm actually surprised that you aren't convinced by the words of Drones and especially Bullet. You introduced this navigation template, that's great, we owe you, infact all credit goes to you, since you're a great contributor. Then, Ultra decided to to tweak it a bit and turns out it suited the community better. Now more people are involved in making it better. Image or not, it doesn't benefit anything, nor should it harm you since we never said anything like Geez, Blue, what is this it looks horrible and wont help to everything you suggest, So it's better if you stop flaming everyone's opinion. --DiscoDiva 16:14, August 16, 2013 (UTC)

Alright. I'll come clean. The reason I want my design with the image is because it looked perfected, in my opinion. If something I like is changed into something I don't like, I become selfish and change it to want I want it to be like. When the community decided to go with no image, however, this causes me to worry about two things: A) I don't like the templates not having the image, while B) my template looks ugly without the image. This will then result to Ultra's design being favored, and thus I felt like I needed to push everyone away and go with what I feel like. But now I just feel like a brat; seeing the messages before my third-to-last message just made me a bit furious. So, if you're going with Ultra's design, so be it. Now I see your point. Instead of competing against UltraSonic, you should be working with him. To me, it looks like the two of you are having a competition and are starting to dislike each other because of this. Ultra used your idea but improved its look.

We're not pushing you aside, it's more like this - your idea, his design. I question whether you really want to contribute to the wiki or are you simply doing this out of pride.

Here's an example - I made our wallpaper and, according to the discussion, everyone is fine with it. If someone came up with something that's even better and everyone likes it even more, I won't mind it. Because in the end, it's not that I wanted "my design" to be on there, I just wanted the wiki to look at its best.

I hate to disrupt this forum, but seeing that it has been going on and on and on has made me a bit agitated. Guys, I know Blue better than anyone, in fact, I live by him. Do you guys realize how long it took Blue to show off the Game Templates without thinking of a consequence?

To answer your question, Slug-Drones, Blue did not make the templates for his own likings. He wanted to help the wiki. He found the coding for the Game Templates back in April, and for the next two months, he blathered whether he should show them off to Sonic News Network or not. I thought everyone would love the templates, seeing how Blue was already (at the time) a rollback. However, recently, Blue has been feeling stressed and his love for Sonic has decreased since late-July. I was curious, so I search through everything on this wiki to find out what was making Blue so sad. Turns out, it's this little forum right here.

And I'm here to announce that Blue is no longer enjoying the fun, wikia life he once had. In fact, he's having the exact opposite. He's starting to worry about what people will think of him, and seeing that this forum is connecting to Blue feeling stress and neglected, I'm disappointed. That's all I have to say. I am personally disgusted by your behavior, Shadowunleashed13. You are accusing us of being stubborn and self-righteous, which I find incredibly offensive. Regardless of his feelings, this is a site discussion. If I said my "feelings were hurt" because you guys decided to put me up for demotion, that doesn't excuse the voice of the community. Put your feelings aside for a moment to realize that we intended no harm to BlueSpeeder or any other user when expressing our disapprobation for the image's presence on the template. As malicious as it may sound, someone's personal "feelings getting hurt" is hardly an excuse to disregard community input.

I apologize for any abrasive and/or hostile behavior that may have been implied as a result of my explicit opinion on this forum. I intended no harm. However, there remains but one thing on my mind: As a community-driven website, everyone needs to realize that just because I (or any other user) express disapproval of an idea you created does not mean that we are attempting to push any disdain towards your way. I was not suggesting we disregard community input, but that we think twice before posting something that would offend another. And guess what's ironic? I seem to have contradicted myself by posting something that offended another.
