Result: Administrator/Bureaucrat names bolded blue
I've done some thinking over the past few months, and I've looked at multple wikis, including one I administrate at, Pokemon Wiki. These wikis have One thing in common - colored names. Now this may sound goofy and pointless, but just hear me out. So, At a few wikis (Pokemon Wiki, Call of Duty Wiki, and Legend Of Leagues Wikis off the top of my head), they decided to color the names of the administrators, rollbacks, staff, bots and VSTF with each having their own unique color, now this may sound goofy but it isn't, when users need help, they can look at the Recent Wiki Activity, and when they need help, all they would have to do is go to the Recent Activity and look for the most recent colored name, and they can go to them for help. This would make it much easier for users. However, to do this you have to know very strict coding, which I somewhat know and I am still currently learning, its called CSS, I am pretty sure on how to do it after watching my fellow users at Pokemon Wiki do it, so I could help with this, however only admins can do this, so someone can eiher learn how to do CSS coding, or we could not do this at all, there are many other solutions to this though, but the first question is if we want the names to be colored or not. I want the opinions of the whole community, not just admins, so, do we want colored names? Please state your reaons why or why not. Thanks! --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount

Can you show me what it looks like?--58SlugDrones • (Contact) 04:19, September 25, 2011 (UTC)

w:c:pokemon:Special:RecentChanges, I am an admin there, so you should see my name in an orangeish-reddish color, of course we can color our names to any color. --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount

Not a bad idea!--58SlugDrones • (Contact) 04:27, September 25, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. ^^ --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount

I think I wouldn't mind having something like this implimented, but we should be careful about which colors we decide to use. For example, if using Monobook, then when you look at Recent Activity you can see numbers right next to each thing that is edited that indicate either an increase or decrease in characters in said pages (red for a decrease, and green for an increase). If I recall, this is also present in the Oasis skin. So, in order to distinguish User names from this feature, we'd have to avoid using red and green colors, but also choose colors that can appear and be read well on a white background (which is what the list of recent activities is placed on). Hopefully everyone else can understand everything I said, because it feels like what I've typed out sounds complicated to understand, even to me.

I suppose I get it. All we have to do find suitable colors besides red and green right? How's about... different shades of blue? (yeah, like no-one thought of that!)--58SlugDrones • (Contact) 04:50, September 25, 2011 (UTC)

Go here, Click Color 1, and you can get every single one of the possible colors, and their Hex Code (Yes, All of them work) --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount

That's help! Looks like Paint Tool SAI. Well, I'm out.--58SlugDrones • (Contact) 04:55, September 25, 2011 (UTC)

Glad someone understood my Engrish. But yes, different colors besides red and green would be more preferable to me. And purple as well, since the color is used for already-clicked links. Different shades of blue could work, but we'd need to make them very distinct from one another. Personally, I think we should be more versatile in our choice of colors. Any suggestions besides blue?

Well, since we can bold colors, we can do a yellow, or an orange, maybe a black/gray (Though that would be sort of dull) Or a Dark Purple (Since the Already Clicked links are lighterish). We would also need colors for the Rollbacks, VSTF, Staff, and Bots (They could all be unbolded) *shurgs* --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount

Yellow is too difficult to see on a white background. Orange might be an okay choice. Black would be dull, but depending on the shade of Grey then I might consider it another option. I'm iffy on any shades of purple, to be honest. As for Admins and Crats, I was thinking that they could both share the same color, whatever that may be, unless thought otherwise for whatever reason(s).

Agreed. --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount

Another wiki I use, Young Justice Wiki, just uses bold text for their administrators, and that sets them out quite well. We don't need to go crazy on the colors if you use bold text. If you still want a different color, then I think a slightly deeper shade of blue is sufficient. -- Supermorff 06:35, September 25, 2011 (UTC)

Are we talking about changing the text color?

No, changing the text color for Admins, Rollbacks, Staff, VSTF, and Bots. -  Bullet Francisco Talk
