*On the rules page, can we have links to certian Wikipedia policies that aren't here? (If we don't already.) An example would be Don't stuff beans up your nose. Users should be responsible for knowing that, but how is it fair if they have (almost) no way of knowing?
  • If you want to reply to someone else's monthly question answer, do it on their talk page.
  • Make a suggest a monthly question page.
  • Make a "Back to Top" button.
  • Why do users have to be absolutely confident they'll do good with their admin rights when running for the position? What if they don't know their own strength or something?

Also, correct me if i'm wrong, but the way I see it, saying "I think" is just giving an opinion. It's sorta like me saying "I think Sonic is awesome!", and someone replying, "Hardly. You said you thought. You must be absolutely confident in your opinion."

Any more? TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 00:10, September 23, 2012 (UTC)

  1. We don't need to suggest monthly questions, or do anything with it. It's fine. Back to top buttons are really necessary either.
  2. Users don't need to be confident when running for a position, it isn't a requirement, but users are allowed to oppose for that reason. We cannot do anything about that. Period.
  3. Back to Top buttons aren't necessary, but would be nice, doesn't matter to me.
  4. Don't stuff beans up your nose and other Wikipedia policies don't really need to be clear here, as they are more or less already things users should follow. --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount 00:11, September 23, 2012 (UTC)

So what do you think of my suggestion about replying on the monthly question? TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 00:16, September 23, 2012 (UTC)

  1. Don't stuff beans up your nose is not a rule, it's just good advice. There's too much good advice out there to link to all of it.
  2. This doesn't seem to be an issue. The monthly question sections aren't too long. This is actually a case of not stuffing beans up you nose (trying to tell people not to do something they haven't been doing much anyway).
  3. Kagi runs the monthly question, so probably speak to him about that.
  4. Some reason you can't just use the scroll bar or the Home button on your keyboard?
  5. This is very much like life. If you can't display confidence (even confidence you don't necessary have), you won't be as successful as those who can. In any case, we don't make rules about people's reasons for voting for and against nominations. And, no, "I think" makes any statement weaker. Opinions are generally implied by context. "Sonic is awesome" is an opinion, with or without "I think", and it's a stronger statement without. (Sometimes you want to make a weaker statement, and that's fine, but not in an admin nomination.) -- Supermorff (talk) 08:26, September 24, 2012 (UTC)
