Fortified is a positive status effect and a battle mechanic that appeared in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Empowered can be given to a playable character by performing certain POW moves, such as Tough, or by using Iron Tonic.
When a target is affected by Fortified, he or she takes less damage from attacks, though only for a few rounds; by then, Fortified will wear off. Targets with the Fortified status is signified by a orange brick wall floating in front of them.
