The Fog Machines are devices built by Dr. Eggman to spread the Phantasmal Fog in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games's story mode on the Nintendo 3DS.
Appearance
The fog machines have egg like shapes (being built by Eggman). The machines are mostly red, grey, yellow and black with four standing legs. At the top of each are a spewer with fans inside that spreads the fog. At the top is a bulb that must be broken to disable/destroy the machine. This contains the fog and the power source. It appears the fog is being transmitted to the machines.
When the machine is destroyed, 3 legs are destroyed and detached. Also it leans and the top is broken.
Since these machines are the source of the fog is much thicker around it.
Holograms
Though only one was seen Eggman said he created multiple fog machine holograms to help hide and protect them. Wario fell for one which since it looks exactly like the machine itself.
Purpose/Abilities
The main purpose was to spread the Phantasmal Fog. Also it could receive the fog from the Master Fog Machine since that is where the urn was. It was shown to not have any defense abilities and it is unknown why Eggman didn't make a defense system.
Guards and Destroyers of the Machines
The machine had no defense abilities which is why they needed guards. Most were Bowser's minions. Imposters appeared in the fog every time but were not the guards of the machines.

- Machine 2 (Sonic episode 2)-King Boo, Boo (destroyed by Sonic)
- Machine 3 (Girls episode 3)-Rouge the Bat (controlled by Eggman and Bowser) (destroyed by Blaze)
- Machine 4 (Challengers episode 3)-Bowser Jr. (destroyed by Shadow)
- Machine 5 (Heroes episode 2)-Eggman Nega (destroyed by Mario and Sonic)
- Machine 6 (Wild Ones episode 2)-Bowser (destroyed by Knuckles)
- Machine 7 (Tricksters Episode 3)-Dr. Eggman, Metal Sonic (destroyed by Wario)
After Wario destroys the last machine the skies are clear again. However Eggman and Bowser create more fog then before from inside Big Ben using the Master Fog Machine. Mario, Luigi, Sonic and Tails then go to defeat them.
