History
Anime
Shadow Saga
Following Perfect Chaos' attack on Station Square, the Flying Dogs were constructed by GUN upon clearance from the President to combat the threat of Dr. Eggman.[3] Much like the Hot Shot, the Flying Dog's design was derived from the studies of the E-Series robots that the government had gotten a hold of.[4]
When Rouge the Bat sneaked into the Prison Island to collect the Chaos Emeralds from there, the leader of the prison sent the Flying Dog in order to combat Rouge, however, it was no match for her.[2]
Egg Moon Saga
During the eclipse of the Egg Moon, as Sonic the Hedgehog was on his way to destroy the mirrors towers powering the Sunshine Balls, several military fighters troops appeared on the scene to stop him, including a Flying Dog that fired a swarm of missiles at Sonic. However, he evaded them one after another.[5]
Homebound Saga
Seeing it is futile to leave the control to the President to take on Eggman, the leader of Prison Island sent troops of GUN robots, including the Flying Dogs, to attack Dr. Eggman in a final bit to kill the doctor. Fortunately, Sonic appeared on the scene and helped the doctor to take care of some of the troops, until the scientist had the time to get to his Grand Egg Imperial.[6]
