Flying (ファン飛行 Fan hikō?, lit. "Fan flight")[1][2] is one of Cream the Rabbit's signature moves in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. When using this move, Cream use her ears to achieve flight.

Description

When using Flying, Cream flaps her large ears like wings in a vertical motion, thus creating a lift that allows her to fly through the air like a bird. While in flight, Cream can reach exceedingly fast speeds: enough to let her keep up with Sonic the Hedgehog.

In gameplay, using Flying lets the player to move through the air in any direction with virtually no restrictions. This allows the player to reach higher places that would be otherwise unreachable or to cross gaps and bottomless pits. However, there is a limit to how long Cream can stay airborne; after flying non-stop for a while, she will become exhausted and slowly drift downward. The move can also not be used underwater. Compared to Propeller Flying, Cream flies faster but not as long or as high.

Game appearances

Sonic Advance 2

Flying first appeared in Sonic Advance 2 as one of Cream's standard moves. To perform Flying in gameplay, the player has to press GameboyA during a Spin Jump. The player can then either continuously tap GameboyA to ascend, or let go to descend. While using Flying, the player can control Cream's movements with the D-pad. The move can be cancelled at anytime by pressing GameboyB, making Cream immediately drop to the ground.

Sonic Advance 3

Sonic Advance 3, Cream can only use Flying when having Sonic, Knuckles or Amy as her partner. Otherwise, the gameplay controls for Flying are the same as in Sonic Advance 2 .
