A flock of Flickies, from Sonic the Hedgehog #5.

The Flicky is a creature that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. They are a race of bird animals that live on Sonic's world. The Flickies are constantly captured by the Eggman Empire, who uses them as batteries for their various Badniks.

Description

Anatomy

The typical Flicky is a small and rotund bird with a sky blue plumage and orange three-toed feet. They have round-shaped heads with two large black eyes, soft orange beaks and two upward-looking tuffs above their foreheads. Their wings are medium-sized compared to their bodies which are smaller than their heads and their tails consist of three tail feathers. In terms of markings they have pink cheeks, a dark blue patch across their eyes, and white bellies.

Characteristics

Peaceful and non-hostile, Flickies are not known to fight. As such, they are constantly captured by the Eggman Empire. They also do not fear strangers, as a Flicky would casually approach Sonic and sit on his shoe while he talked to it.[1]

Powers and abilities

Being non-anthropomorphic birds, the Flickies are able to fly using their wings.

Flickies being broken out of Badniks, from Sonic the Hedgehog #5.

Following the emergence of Dr. Eggman, the Flickies have perpetually been kidnapped by the Eggman Empire to be used as power sources for the Badniks employed by the Eggman Empire's associates.

After the War, some Flicky-powered Hoverbys and Antons would attack Sonic the Hedgehog and Espio the Chameleon in a mountainous region. However, the two heroes were able to defeat these Badniks, freeing the Flickies inside of them.[2]

While Sonic took a breather from his latest adventure, a Flicky would come and sit on his shoe, prompting Sonic to talk to it about what had happened lately. However, the Flicky got scared off when Tails arrived with some alarming news.[1]
