The Fishing Spot is a minigame where the player can fish thanks to Big the Cat. It can be accessed via a Purple Portal in the Open Zone areas.[3] All of the maps except Rhea Island have at least one Fishing Spot: Kronos Island has one in the south-eastern tip of the larger landmass; both Ares Island and Chaos Island have one on a smaller island in the south-western corner of their respective maps; while Ouranos Island has one in south-eastern tip and another one in the south-west. Like with normal Portals, the player can instantly teleport to a Purple Portal after they have completed all of the island's Challenges.
After entering a Purple Portal, Sonic will be greeted by Big and the player is then given the following options:
Go Fish!: Here the player will be given the opportunity to fish at the cost of a certain amount of Purple Coins which increases depending on the island: Kronos Island requires one, Ares Island two, Chaos Island four, and Ouranos Island eight. All types of stuff can be found here, from real-world fishes and trash, to treasure and even elements from the Sonic series. Each item gives the player a reward, usually in the form of Treasure Tokens.[4] The number of tokens awarded depends on the item that has been fished and increases depending on the island. Each island also has certain exclusive objects.
When the player picks this option, they will be given a spare rod by Big. Sonic will then have to choose an area of a small pond with fishes to cast the line on by pressing , though there is virtually no difference between picking an area over another one. Once a fish is caught, a red, thick ripple appears with a smaller, white ripple that increases in size. Once the white ripple overlaps the red one, the player has to press to lift the rod up and claim the caught item.[5] If they succeed, they will be given a random item. If not, they will have to try again. The amount and size of red ripples and the speed of the white ripples varies depending on the island and the rarity of the item caught.
View Fish-o-pedia: Every item that has been fished is chronicled within the "Fish-o-pedia" (サカナ図鑑,Sakana Zukan?, lit. "Fish Field Guide"), an in-game encyclopedia that contains every item collected by the player. It also includes a separate sub-section called "Voice Logs", which allows to listen to the Egg Memos that have been purchased.
A small, slender fish often found in home aquariums. A diverse range of variants exist, including those with translucent, skeletal bodies or multi-hued skin.
A creature with powerful claws found in slow-moving freshwater environments. Being omnivorous, it can be caught with any food you happen to have on hand.
A fish that makes for very good eating. Its eggs are considered a delicacy in some places. Though its flesh starts out pale, it turns orange over time due to pigments in the food it eats.
A fish with a mottled, pebble-like appearance. It dwells at the bottom of rivers and ponds, where its skin serves as camouflage to protect it from enemies.
This eight-legged mollusk is considered a delicacy by some. Like squid, when threatened it shoots out ink that temporarily paralyzes the senses of its natural enemy, the moray eel.
A large fish sometimes referred to as a living fossil due to its lack of evolution since ancient times. Much about it remains a mystery, attracting broad scientific and public interest.
A fish renowned for its delicate flavor. All parts of its body can be used in cuisine, and in some cases it is eaten raw. Generally, the more oily cuts fetch the highest prices.
A massive, flat-bodied fish. It can grow close to ten feet in length, though it is more delicately built than it appears. The juvenile sunfish has a star-shaped appearance that looks nothing like an adult.
A flat fish with a long tail. It is said to be related to the shark, though they look nothing alike. It has distinctive gills on the bottom of its body.
A flat sea creature covered with spiny skin. It moves across the seabed using countless tube feet of its underside. Starfish are sometimes eaten or used in traditional medicine.
A deep-sea creature resembling an insect. It lives in the ocean depths untouched by light. Its efficient metabolism enables it to survive without food for years after even a modest meal.
Trade Tokens: This is a shop menu where the player can exchange tokens for items. If Gold Cards have been obtained through normal treasure boxes or golden ones, they will be used as currency until the player runs out of them. Items that the player no longer needs to buy or that are no longer sold at the shop are under the label "Sold Out".

BBQ Spit: This option only becomes available once the player has downloaded the free Sonic Frontiers: Monster Hunter Collaboration Pack DLC. Here, Sonic will have to grill a piece of meat. The player has to wait until a short track that plays in the background ends and press // to finish cooking. If the meat is well cooked, the player will earn three Treasure Tokens; if it is raw, they will not earn any rewards, and if it is overcooked, they will only earn two tokens.
Return to the island: The player leaves the minigame and returns to the corresponding island.

They are a type of Cyber Space, recreated from your memories. I am not picking up any signals like those of the Doctor's, or your friends, from those areas. The Big the Cat that you saw is most probably an illusion recreated from your memory."
