The Fishing Rod is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. It is Big the Cat's signature object that he is usually seen carrying with him. As well as for fishing, Big can also use his Fishing Rod as a weapon.

Appearance
The Fishing Rod is an object based on the rods of the same name. Although its design varies between games and artworks, it is generally a yellow/orange reed with black stripes. The Fishing Rod also includes a rod that is brown/orange and has a red reel. It has a long, thin line. On this line, Big uses different lures. One is a green, orange and black fish-shaped lure. The other is a green, blue and white designed lure with a yellow star on it (making it resemble a Bumper).[1]
Features and traits
The Fishing Rod's main function is for fishing. However, the Fishing Rod is durable enough to be used as a melee weapon. The fish hook is appealing enough for fish to bite on it and be caught by the user. The Fishing Rod's line is quite long and can be thrown at very far distances. It is also tough enough to tie several people up.[1]
