The Fish-One is an enemy that appears in Sonic and the Black Knight. They are a type of the Knights of the Underworld and a part of the Fish-One variant which are tasked with scouting and monitoring enemies. Their special trait is shooting streaks of lightning.

Concept and creation[]

According to developers notes, the Fish-Ones were designed to look like sea creatures.[1]

Appearance[]

The Fish-Ones, as their name implies, resemble large normal fish. They have olive-yellow skin which is covered in glowing yellow medieval markings. They also possess wing-like pelvic fins, a pointy dorsal fin and a glowing red orb instead of a tail fin. On their head sections, they wear a metal visor with a single light yellow eye behind them.

Overview[]

The yellow Fish-Ones are a rare type of the Fish-Ones and can only be encountered in a few Missions, such as "Special Challenge: Escape the Cauldron" in The Cauldron and "Collect Rings: Collect 100 Rings" in Dragon's Lair.

The Fish-Ones attack by flying stationary in midair where they will shoot a streak of lightning along the ground in front of them, though it will not cause damage. If the playable character is hit, he/she will be unable to move for a few seconds. This can be especially troublesome when running along the trail of thunder dragons or when a group of yellow Fish-Ones team up against the player. Their attack's effect can also not be neutralized with Guard. When the playable character is up close though, they can inflict damage. Like most other Knights of the Underworld, the Fish-Ones can be defeated with a single sword slash.

Powers and abilities[]

The Fish-Ones are able to teleport to different locations by emerging from black voids. They are also capable of flight through midair by using their flippers.

As their signature ability, the Fish-Ones have limited electrokinetic powers; they can shoot out a single lightning bolt from their eye which is strong enough to completely paralyze their foes for a few seconds.
