When using Fire Breath, the player will launch a fireball forward, which slightly bounces from the ground. The player is able to launch up to three fireballs in a row before the earliest one de-spawns.

In Sonic Superstars, the Fire Breath appears as Trip's Extra ability that can be used if the player has collected the gray Chaos Emerald. The player must select Extra, then press // in order to use it. The attack is temporarily, as once the gauge for Extra runs out, Trip will stop performing it until the gauge is fully charged again. If the player attempts to use the move while Trip is submerged in underwater, the flame will be immediately extinguished, effectively making the move useless in that scenario.

The usage of Fire Breath acts similarly to the Fire Flower power-up from the Super Mario series.
