Green Hills is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures and its spin-offs. It is a small town in the state of Montana, where Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles live with Tom and Maddie Wachowski.

Green Hills is a small rural town in the middle of a mountainous forest area, not too far from the Hedgehog Cave. Most of the town's buildings run along the main street running through the center of the town. The town also has a sheriff's department and a baseball field. It is also where the Wachowskis' house of residence can be found.

Over fifty years ago, the Wachowski family began policing Green Hills as a part of the Green Hills Sheriff's Department, and would continue this tradition up until the present day. Eventually, Tom Wachowski of the current generation of the Wachowski family became the town's sheriff while his wife, Maddie Wachowski, became Green Hills' most respective veterinarian.

A decade ago, after Sonic the Hedgehog arrived in Montana following his departure from Mobius, the hedgehog would visit Green Hills often while avoiding being discovered by the local human population. In an attempt to deny his own loneliness, Sonic would spy on Green Hills' inhabitants, and would take a special interest in Tom and Maddie. Although the town lunatic, Crazy Carl, eventually caught onto Sonic and attempted to capture him on several occasions, Sonic would elude him every time for fun.
In the recent past, Tom applied to the San Francisco Police Department in hopes of doing more and making a real impact in peoples' lives. Having anticipated Tom's success, Maddie began searching for apartments to rent in San Francisco.
Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Eventually, Tom received an acceptance letter from the San Francisco Police Department to become a street cop on their force, and Maddie revealed to him that she was already planning their move for them. Soon after, Maddie flew to San Francisco with Ozzy to await Tom while he wrapped things up in Green Hills. Meanwhile, Sonic, after watching a junior league baseball game at Green Hills' baseball field, would play a game with himself that same evening. As his frustrations over being all alone grew, however, Sonic would resort to running around until his powers built up and released an electromagnetic pulse that cut out power all across the Pacific Northwest, including Green Hills. During the blackout, Wade would call Tom from the police station in order to get instructions on how to deal with the situation.
Soon after, the United States sent the United States Army and Dr. Robotnik to Green Hills to discover the origin of the electromagnetic pulse. As the government encroached him, Sonic fled to Green Hills with his most important belongings from the Hedgehog Cave and hid out in Tom's garage, hoping to safely use a Ring there to escape to the Mushroom Planet with. However, he was discovered by Tom, who shot him with a tranquilizer dart. Before losing consciousness however, Sonic opened a Ring portal to the Transamerica Pyramid and accidentally dropped his remaining Rings into it. After recovering however, Sonic managed to persuade Tom to help him when Robotnik's truck arrived at Tom's house. Ultimately, they both managed to escape Robotnik after he stormed into Tom's house with his Badniks and discovered Sonic, which led to Tom getting on the homicidal Robotnik's bad side. Robotnik and his agents soon after occupied the Green Hills Sheriff's Department, where they intercepted a conversation between Tom and Wade.

Days later, Sonic sent Tom and Maddie through a Ring portal to Green Hills, where they landed in Farmer Zimmer's barn, to keep them safe from Robotnik. Hours later, Sonic got blasted through a Ring portal by Robotnik's Eggpod that took him back to Green Hills, where he landed in the town's main street. There, Tom came to Sonic's defense by attacking Robotnik onboard his Eggpod, only to get knocked off it. Fortunately for Tom, the townspeople came to his defense. When it seemed that Sonic was dead though, Tom berated Robotnik for his lack of humanity and declared Sonic his friend. Hearing this, Sonic recovered with his full power unleashed. As Sonic pummeled the Eggpod into submission, he and Tom banished Robotnik to the Mushroom Planet. Afterward, Tom and Maddie decided to remain in Green Hills.
Following this incident, Tom and Maddie went to work renovating their house. During this, Commander Walters paid them a visit to thank them for keeping quiet about recent events. He also attempted to make contact with Sonic on behalf of the government but failed. Afterward, the Wachowskis showed Sonic that they had moved his Hedgehog Cave into their attic, where they welcomed an overjoyed Sonic home.

Following a catastrophic act of vigilantism in Seattle, Sonic returned to Green Hills in the early morning. After sneaking into his room, however, Maddie and Ozzy woke him up from his intended nap. Reminded then of a fishing trip with Tom, Sonic would fish with Tom out on a local lake, where Tom confronted Sonic with his trip to Seattle and gave him a lesson in heroism and responsibility. Soon after, Tom and Maddie went on a vacation to Hawaii, with Sonic providing them with a route there through a Ring, thus leaving Sonic in charge of the house and Ozzy.
As Sonic began partying it up, Tails came to Green Hills in search of him, borrowing a police car to get around unnoticed in the process. Later at night, Dr. Robotnik returned to Green Hills with Knuckles the Echidna using a Ring. After Robotnik then had revealed himself to Sonic, the hedgehog tried attacking him, only to get into a fight with Knuckles. While Sonic got outmatched by Knuckles' greater experience, Robotnik learned of Knuckles' search for the "ultimate power." Immediately after, Tails arrived in his police car and saved Sonic. Making their escape through Green Hills, Sonic and Tails ultimately got away from Knuckles. Afterward, Robotnik contacted Agent Stone, informing him of his return. Working now in Green Hills' Mean Bean Coffee Café, Stone used the tech he had installed into the café to send new equipment to Robotnik. After receiving his delivery and gearing up, Robotnik forged an alliance with Knuckles to help him find the ultimate power, the Master Emerald. In truth though, Robotnik's plan was to use Knuckles and get the Master Emerald for himself.
Finding refuge at Wade's, Sonic and Tails' search for answers about Knuckles' quest for the Master Emerald led them to discover a message from Longclaw in an old map Sonic had, which revealed the whereabouts of a compass that could lead to the Master Emerald, prompting Sonic and Tails to head to eastern Siberia through a Ring to retrieve the compass. In the meantime, Robotnik and Knuckles met up with Stone at the Mean Bean Coffee Café, which Stone had since secretly transformed into their secret command center. While there, they intercepted a text message between Sonic and Tom, which Robotnik used to pinpoint Sonic's location in Siberia. Meanwhile, Robotnik quietly informed Stone of his secret reason for allying himself with an "imbecile" like Knuckles. With Sonic's whereabouts determined, Robotnik and Knuckles headed out in pursuit of Sonic while Stone remained behind.

The next day, Wade was patrolling Green Hills when he discovered that the Mean Bean Coffee Café was closed. Taking a peek inside the café, he caught Stone reviewing new outfits for Robotnik on his computer, prompting Wade to intrude and apprehend him. As Wade tried interrogating Stone with no success however, Robotnik teleported into the café in a new form, where he freed Stone and forced Wade to take Stone's place as their hostage. Meanwhile, a number of G.U.N soldiers would arrive in Green Hills and surround the Mean Bean Coffee Café. Soon after, Tom, Maddie, and Commander Walters arrived in Green Hills to join G.U.N.'s siege of the café. Confronting G.U.N.'s assembly outside the café, Robotnik used his new powers to build the Giant Eggman Robot from G.U.N.'s arsenal and a lot of the machinery in Green Hills and beyond. As the Giant Eggman Robot began trampling into Green Hills, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles arrived in there in the Tornado, each of them taking shots at the Giant Eggman Robot. After their best attacks failed, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles regrouped in Green Hills' main street, where they agreed to work together. As Robotnik then sent Badniks after them, the trio fought their way through the robots as they made a plan: if Sonic could get Robotnik's attention, Tails and Knuckles could sneak up on him and take the Master Emerald from him. Sonic proceeded to lure Robotnik and his robot outside of Green Hills. Meanwhile, as they evacuated civilians, Tom and Maddie managed to borrow a truck from one of the locals in order to follow Sonic.
Later, after Robotnik was defeated, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Tom, Maddie, and Ozzy would go to the local baseball stadium in Green Hills to play a game. After Knuckles made them lose their only ball though, the group decided to go for ice cream.

One day, on the outskirts of Green Hills, Tom detected Sonic passing by, but was unable to see him. Soon after, Sonic would play a baseball game by himself at Green Hills' baseball field, only to accidentally trigger a blackout across Green Hills with a power surge generated by his powers.[1]
The next day, as Tom was talking with Wade on the phone while preparing to leave Green Hills for San Francisco, he discovered Sonic as he was trying to hide from a United States government truck while preparing to head to the Mushroom Planet using his Rings. As Tom took a look at the truck on behalf of Sonic, Tom met Dr. Robotnik, who revealed he was here to investigate the blackout. When Robotnik's Badniks detected Sonic however, Robotnik sent them after Sonic in order to capture him so Robotnik could uncover the secret to Sonic's power. Tom opposed this, as they did not know if Sonic was a threat. As Sonic and Tom ran into each other in the forest later on, Sonic wound up sending his Rings to San Francisco by accident when Badniks attacked them. After escaping the Badniks, upon hearing that Sonic needed his Rings back, Tom took him to San Francisco.[1]
Days later, Sonic sent Tom and Maddie through a Ring portal to Green Hills to keep them safe from Robotnik. Hours later, Sonic arrived in Green Hills too through a Ring portal, with Robotnik hot on his trail in his Eggpod. There, Sonic managed to unleash his full power after getting words of support from Tom and Maddie, which he used to defeat Robotnik. Afterward, Tom and Maddie decided to remain in Green Hills. Soon after, the pair moved Sonic's things from his Hedgehog Cave into their attic, where they welcomed an overjoyed Sonic home.[1]

After settling into the Wachowski house in Green Hills, Sonic was left home by himself when Maddie had to go to the clinic and Tom was out of town. However, Sonic quickly got bored and so began speeding around the town to socialize from a distance and pulling off old pranks, as many of the inhabitants still did not really know who he was. While talking to himself, which Crazy Carl caught him doing, Sonic expressed hopes for a change to prove that he had what it took to be a hero after having defeated Robotnik. Later, back home, Sonic heard about a bank robbery at the first bank in Walla Walla, Washington, on TV and decided to head over there to save the day.
Not long after, Agent Stone successfully obtained a Robotnik Control Glove and Robotnik's manifesto. With these tools at his disposal, Stone got himself a job at Karen's Coffee in Green Hills. From there, he began using Robotnik's methods and technology to rise through the ranks of the shop and ultimately take it for himself within a week, steadily disposing of all the employees who had crossed him or stood in his way, including its owner. With the shop his, Stone was ready to move into phase two of Robotnik's manifesto, which meant giving the shop a new name and installing some new improvements.[2]

Following his world tour after the San Francisco incident, Sonic would return to his home in Green Hills. However, he soon left the town again to see other wonders and places on Earth.
Sonic Drone Home[]

Following the Master Emerald incident, Team Sonic were out on an errand to return some library books from the Green Hills library on behalf of Maddie. Then, however, Sonic had his crew take a detour in order to investigate some strange noises in the Green Hills Junkyard. After arriving there, the crew discovered Unit, a self-aware Badnik working on upgrading himself in order to conquer the world. Despite Sonic and Tails trying to stay out of sight, Knuckles' recklessness got them discovered by Unit. Ignoring Sonic's attempt to strategize, Knuckles charged at Unit, only to get ejected from the junkyard and getting himself stuck in a sign, leaving only Sonic and Tails to take on Unit. After gauging Unit, Sonic took shots at him until the Badnik blinded him. Tails tried to help, but he only made the situation worse. When then trying to escape Unit, the duo got cornered by him. However, by conversing with Unit, Sonic convinced the Badnik to pursue his own passion: poetry. With encouragement from Sonic and Tails, Unit would then read out his poems for the duo to listen to until Knuckles returned and smashed Unit's body. With Unit's core module still intact however, Tails convinced his team to adopt Unit, although both Sonic and Knuckles had reservations about this, with Sonic stressing that Unit was Tails' responsibility and Knuckles suspecting that Unit was still evil.
