Toynami is an American-based toy company, founded in 2000. Toynami primarily focuses on anime licenses for specialty retailers and collectors in America. The company's name is a portmanteau of the words "toy" and "tsunami".

It was announced in 2016 that Toynami would be producing plushies and figures for the Sonic the Hedgehog × Sanrio collaboration.[1]

The collaboration consisted of the classic-styled versions of Sonic the Hedgehog characters Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles mashed-up with Sanrio characters Hello Kitty, Chococat, My Melody and Badtz-Maru.

Toynami produced a range of Sonic the Hedgehog toys for the collaboration, such as 10 inch plushies and blind-box figures.[2]
