— Splats, Sonic the Hedgehog #40

The Splats (created 3235) is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a rabbit-based Badnik variant created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik and one of the Classic Badniks, some of Sonic the Hedgehog's oldest foes.

History[]

Early battles[]

Splats vs ant

Splats vs. Antoine, from Sonic the Hedgehog #5.

Splats was first used in the Robotropolis Olympic Games, where he beat Antoine D'Coolette in the high jump event.[1] Splats later appeared in Robo Hobo Jungle with the other outdated Badniks, where Sonic came to arrest Nack the Weasel for his transformation into Mecha Sonic. Splats and the other Badniks tried to kill Sonic but were easily defeated once again.[2]

Island of Misfit Badniks[]

Splats and the other Badniks were later transferred to the Island of Misfit Badniks. When Sonic came to check it out, they captured him. However, Sonic escaped and easily defeated them, before coming face-to-face with Pseudo-Sonic. The two were easily matched until the Badniks decided to finish it with a "Bighorn Challenge" that not only wrecked Pseudo-Sonic but sank the island with the Splats and the other Badniks faking the deaths.[3] Splats and the other Badniks later attacked the Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters who tried to stop their plans to rebuilding Pseudo-Sonic. Splats and the robots took on Bottlenose before being defeated and was later waved away by the gigantic Pseudo-Sonic and then crushed into a cube by Fluke.[4]

Personality[]

Just like the other classic Badniks, the Splats are fully sentient, allowing them to feel various emotions, as well as the ability to speak.
