The Channel Hoppers (Jiggly, Wiggly, and Floppy) is a group that appears in the Sonic the Comic series and its spin-offs published by Fleetway Editions. They are a trio of D.R.A.T. members who masqueraded as entertainers on a childrens' TV show, secretly using a high-tech TV camera to brainwash their young viewers into worshiping Dr. Robotnik.

History[]

Channel Hoppers[]

The Channel Hoppers got their own TV show where they bounced around on space hoppers and performed "hilarious antics". Their show was incredibly popular with children, but made adults nauseous. They were secretly three members of D.R.A.T. in disguise: the blue Channel Hopper, the group’s mastermind, was a bulldog named Brother Barry, the red Channel Hopper was a coyote named Brother Percy, and the green Channel Hopper was an unnamed chimp. The reason their show was so popular with children was because they secretly filmed their TV show with a high-tech TV camera that sent out a subliminal message on a frequency that could only be picked up by young minds, brainwashing children into thinking that Robotnik is wonderful. Tails witnessed some children acting strangely after watching the Channel Hoppers and became suspicious of them, so he went to their TV studio and overheard them discussing their evil plan. Tails prepared to fight the Channel Hoppers, but they told him that they were about to go live and it would look like he was beating up three innocent kids show performers, forcing Tails to retreat. However, unknown the to the Channel Hoppers, Tails had Tim Tuna the TV retuner block their signal and replace it with one that carried a message revealing their plot. The Channel Hoppers then went outside and greeted a crowd of kids, who they still believed to be under their control. However, the kids attacked them, causing the Channel Hoppers to blame each other for the plan’s failure and fight among themselves. During their fight, they unmasked each other, and the kids saw their faces and recognized them as members of D.R.A.T. Tails then arrived with Tim and explained what he did before beating them up. The Channel Hoppers then walked away in defeat.[1]

Uniform[]

The Channel Hoppers wear masks with human-like faces, blue lights on their heads, and antennae where their ears should be. They also wear brightly-colored bodysuits (one red with a smiley on his stomach, one blue with a sun on his stomach, and one green with a flower on his stomach), along with white gloves and shoes.

Trivia[]

  • The Channel Hoppers are a parody of the Teletubbies. However, there is no Channel hopper version of the yellow Teletubby, Laa Laa.
