Charmy Bee (チャーミー・ビー Chāmī Bī?) is a character in the Sonic the Hedgehog manga published by Shogakukan. He is an ally of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Appearance[]
Charmy's appearance differs between publications.
Charmy's appearance in the Shogaku Sannensei and The Adventures of SONIC the Hedgehog stories is close to his game counterpart. He wears a black pilot's helmet with goggles, a sleeveless pilot's jacket, white gloves, and sneakers.
In the Shogaku Ninensei stories by Sango Morimoto, Charmy is a small anthropomorphic bee with two transparent wings on his back, ball antennae, pink hair, green fur and a black and yellow spiracle. His mouth, belly, thin arms and legs are peach colored. He wears white gloves, and red shoes.

Shogaku Ninensei[]

For many years, Charmy Bee and Sonic the Hedgehog have known each other. However at some point, Charmy got himself into a coma inside the Time Box, a machine that he can utilize. During a summer vacation, the Time Box was being delivered by airmail by Paulie, unaware about the old box's background or its destination. After he and his son Nicky were captured by Dr. Eggman, who was about to drown Sonic in his water dome trap, Charmy woke up from his coma and used the Time Box to rewind time back to the point where Sonic could get out the trap.[1]

Personality[]
Charmy's personality differs between publications.
In the Shogaku Sannensei and The Adventures of SONIC the Hedgehog stories, Charmy is an easily distracted and overly enthusiastic young bee whose demeanor can on occasion annoy those around him. He has a strong sense of bravery and a brash attitude than can sometimes get him into trouble, on top of this he has a hard time being covert about things. He makes up for his immaturity with his loyalty, as he's willing to put himself on the line to help his friends. He also looks up to Sonic, referring to him as if he were an older brother.
Shogaku Ninensei[]
Charmy is an active and brave bee, willing to stand up against Dr. Eggman when he is least expected.
Powers and abilities[]
Charmy has the natural ability to fly with his wings and will also on occasion make use of his stinger as a weapon or tool to cut through things.
In the Shogaku Ninensei stories Charmy is can also use the Time Box to rewind or manipulate time.
Trivia[]
- This is the earliest known incarnation of Charmy Bee, preceding the appearance of the game character in Knuckles' Chaotix.
