Isabella Mongoose is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. She is a mobian mongoose and the widowed wife of Arthur Mongoose and mother of Mobius' biggest celebrity pop singer, Mina Mongoose.

Appearance[]

History[]

Early Life During the Great War[]

During the Great War, Isabella was chased into the forest by a group of Overlander  troops. Cornered against a tree, she found herself surprised when a soldier came between her and the enemy, protecting her from harm. The soldier Arthur Mongoose, defeated the Overlanders and returned her home to safety. The two eventually fell in love and conceived a child, Mina.[3]

Life as a Robian[]

When Robo-Robotnik recaptured the city of Mobotropolis with his Shadowbot horde, Isabella was one of the many Mobians who was captured and subsequently roboticized. Her daughter desperately attempted to find and free her, but was stopped by Sonic the Hedgehog, who realized Mina could not save her mother alone and that by that time Isabella was likely already roboticized.[4]

Mother & Daughter Reunited[]

Some time later, Isabella had her free will restored along with the rest of the Robians by the Sword of Acorns. Returning with the others to Knothole, Isabella was reunited with her daughter.[5][6]

With her free will restored, Isabella began looking after her daughter once more. When Mina was trying to find out how to get Sonic's attention, Isabella told her of how Arthur got her attention during the Great War. When she realized Mina intended to become a Freedom Fighter just to get Sonic's attention, she went to tell Sonic how much her daughter cared for him, and asked he warned her of the dangers of being a Freedom Fighter. Their conversation was interrupted by an attack from Dr. Eggman's Über-Bot and after this Mina realized she was not Freedom Fighter material.[3]

Pop-Star Daughter[]

When Mina decided to take up singing, Isabella fully supported her daughter. Attending her first concert, she realized how much Mina had grown up, and wished her late husband was there to see how grown-up Mina had become.[7]

Back in the Flesh[]

She was reunited with Mina again after being deroboticized by the Bem like most of the other Robians. She appeared to have been deroboticized at around the same time as Armand D'Coolette, Sir Charles Hedgehog, and Bernadette Hedgehog, and with no memory as to how it all happened.[8]

Isabella was seen after Sonic's return from space beside her daughter while a celebration was taking place in Knothole, and later played host to her daughter's band, the Forget Me Knots, and allowed them to practice their new music.[9][2]

Councilor Mongoose[]

Following the resignation of Rotor from the Council of Acorn, Isabella was elected as his replacement. Her first motion as their newest member would be to overturn Nicole's exile. Ixis Naugus, acting as king, furiously rejected this and stated that the council had already decided and that he protected the city. Isabella argued that Team Freedom had saved Naugus from Dr. Eggman and that Nicole could have given them advanced warning. All of them discussed about bringing Nicole back when a mutating Naugus leaves the council to decide unless he is needed for the tie-breaker. Her motion was carried out later that day with Nicole returning to the city under monitored conditions.[1]
